Obama is in the Cat Bird Seat
And I couldn't be happier. It's a new year in America, and it would appear that a REAL progressive has the best chance of getting the nomination. Yay for us! Yay for the Country!

1. Obama? a "Real Progressive"?
Oh please.
He is a Democrat. He is more centrist than he is progressive.
And I could vote for him without holding my nose, but let's be honest, okay?

2. Compare him to Bush. Compare him to Hillary
And the big plus is, he's not a corporate lawyer! Who would be better nominee?

3. But he is willing to compromise with republicans
Uh...by the way...you do know that a corporate lawyer is an attorney who REPRESENTS corporations?
If your mudslinging is against John Edwards--a fabulous trial lawyer who sides with everyday Americans AGAINST corporations, then you were way off your mark.
So, in answer to YOUR question...the REAL Progressive Edwards is a better nominee.:)

4. John Edwards started his career representing Corporations
You know that, and I know that,

with that said, Obama/Edwards has a great ring to it.

33. Obama has been real annoying lately
but I can still probably hold my nose long enough to run in and pull the lever if he gets the nom. Maybe.

Hillary just brings absolutely zero to the table for the working class and won't get my vote.

ABH!

5. Compromises with Republicans ....you mean like
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 02:11 AM by FrenchieCat
John Edwards when he "promised to have Republicans in his Cabinet.....because...?
"because I'm looking for the strongest, most capable, most independent-minded people I can find. I want people around me who will say, 'You're wrong about this, and you could do grave damage if you do it. Mr. President, you need to change your mind,' " he said. "Because I'm not perfect, I'm capable of making mistakes."--John Edwards, 12/2/07

and here, on the Charlie Rose show, at about 19:50, Edwards agrees with Obama and states that Corporations certainly should have a voice and also have a seat at the table.
http://thinkonthesethings.wordpress.com/2007/12/29/video-john-edwards-on-charlie-rose-agrees-with-obama-on-corporations-voices-should-be-heard/

So what's up with your Candidate.....who appears willing to compromise with Republicans himself? Got any words for John Edwards as well, while you are at it? :eyes:

10. Listen Frenchie
One only has to read a couple of your posts to know what you are about...and that is STRICTLY about smearing John Edwards.
I really have no desire to share any discourse with you. I hope you understand that this will be my first and last post to you, but you throw together links and call it the truth. No thanks! But carry on.

quoted as saying.......which goes against your very own accusation against Obama, you want to denounce me as a liar in your post instead. Interesting....and sad on your part.

Glad I won't have to mention your blatantlack of reading comprehension to you anymore. It might start making you feel inferior, and I don't want that.

Well, apart from all of this, nevertheless, have a Happy new year!

...you are as much an ass as some of the Repigs that post on here, if not moreso. You know as well as anyone else that there is nothing wrong with Edward's comments that you snipped (in an effort to get them out of context but you failed) above. You OBVIOUSLY have a reading comprehension problem yourself re: Edward's policies. You are either blatantly or pretentiously ignorant of them and you frankly make YOURSELF look pretty stupid with that. The levels you stoop to smear Edwards are notorious and as disgusting and transparent as the propaganda of George W. Bush himself.

Thank heavens for IGNORE.

Ya pissant half-wit nincompoop.

Why not tell why you support YOUR candidate instead of coming here and urinating on everyone else's like an un-neutered Tomcat marking its territory in everyone else's living room?

27. Too bad you have to lie about my "snipping" Edwards' comments....
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 03:44 PM by FrenchieCat
when you know damn well I didn't.

Read the Goddam article, and let me know what I did to it apart from quoting verbatim the first paragraph which is a quote....(I cut "Here's why" which doesn't change a doggone thing) you lying and spinning Edwards supporter! http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071204/NEWS09/712040382/-1/caucus

You seem to have a tolerant blind side for the Edwards supporters who maligned Obama by saying that something is wrong with Obama for being willing to work with Corporate Republicans (the poster I was responding to). And when I point to Edwards' words saying the exact same damn thing AND provide a link (unlike the Edwards poster), you become crazed like a rabid dog and attack me personally.

Well since your only manner of responding in John Edwards' defense is to call me names, I'll lower myself to your gutter level and use your own words back atcha and say that You can kiss my brown Democratic ass as these boards don't belong solely to you (and this ain't your fucking living room)......Ya pissant half-wit ignorant stupid un-neutered Tomcat nincompoop.

34. Except t o date all Edwards has done is talk the talk
not walk the walk. And he's looking suspiciously like Dean in 2004. Interesting because he dissed Dean's populism harshly, and interesting because guess who his campaign manager is?

17. Obama is the one with a progressive record.
Edwards has a record he makes apologies for. I love what Edwards has to say but I like someone who also backs it up with action beyond a stump speech.

26. Obama is running as mainstream, not 'left-progressive' ...
but as a mainstream politician, he is much more thoughtful and at least open to left-progressives than the OTHER mainstream candidates are likely to be. In my arrogant opinion, one litmus test for the "progressive" label would NOT be health care mandates, which many progressives (including in the unions) oppose, but single payer. Obama is a pragmatist seeking to win, someone who spoke out against the Iraq War as NONE of the other mainstream candidates have (I know Kucinich always opposed it), and in other ways is the best of the POSSIBLE presidents running, in my opinion.

However, as for the "left-progressive" label, I would reserve it for Kucinich. If Obama's campaign were to implode like Dean's did in 04 (press etc ganging up), then I would, as in 04, vote Kucinich. But as long as Obama has a chance, I'd like to see him both as the nominee, and as the next president.

32. unfortunately, if Obama is the nominee . . .
his name alone will sink him in the general election . . . no, it's not fair, but it's reality in 2008 America . . . he's also too young and inexperienced, and his positions leave much to be desired . . .
