MORE... In Jan. 1996, commenting on the federal government shutdown, Kerry called the House Republicans 'legislative terrorists,' who used federal workers as pawns and disrespected them. 1. I wonder if the Paige thing was intentional, meant to set up this retort.

2. Kerry either said it, or he didn't..
if he said it, it's not a smear...it's an inconvenient fact...

5. This campaign is just
going to get silly fast if all that happens is throwing out every bit of hyperbole Kerry ever used. Good grief. How about dealing with the issues? Of couse dealing with the issues would just show that Bush truly is a miserable failure.

Much easier to drag out some 8 year old smart asses comment.

7. Simple: use their own favorite phrase against them
Everything has changed since September 11th.

Kerry said this in '96.
Houston's miracle boy made his statement yesterday.

Besides, you can't listen to these right-wing types. Drudge is famous for printing stories that just aren't true, and god knows that most of Rush's ramblings are just a less coherent version of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, opiate dreams. (don't you just love being able to dismiss these idiots out-of-hand with simple one-sentence damnations, as above?)

9. Huge Huge Difference
The differences between calling a group terrorists in 1996 and in 2004 are so obvious as to not even need explaination.

10. The word "terrorist" has a different meaning to most people now
than it did in 1996, at least in the US. It didn't permeate our society then as it does now.

15. The Texas House Republicans referred to the House Democrats
as legislative terrorists too. I don't see the big deal.

16. and another thing
Kerry seems to come up with the best lines in referrence to Republicans:

- We need regime change at home
- The only person who deserves to be downsized is President Bush

and my personal favorite

- I didn't think Bush would fuck it up as bad as he did

17. Maybe the Dean campaign should have done this to Kerry
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 12:32 PM by w4rma
instead of letting Gephardt and Kerry attack Dean with these, years old, out of context statements.

It looks like Kerry is going to vetted by the Republicans, instead of us.

Unfortunately this bullcrap works.

20. This Is Stupid
I've voiced concerns in the past about Kerry doing or saying things in the past that can be exploited (i.e. taken out of context) by Rover, but this is just stupid.

22. If Kerry didn't say this he should have because it's true. This should
be easy to handle PR wise. The Republicans are well known for their government shotdowns and legislative terrorism.
