A reply to someone whom asked me why I still support John Edwards though "he would need 60% of the remaining delegates" to win the Democratic nomination and nobody has ever done that."

"Do you believe in miracles?"
So why are you here? Let the rest of us live in our "fantasy world." As for me,I prefer to live in a country where everything is possible. Somebody taught me one time the only way you can make a change in the world is to believe in that change and action will follow your belief. Thus far that has proven true. It will again.
I believe you have crossed the line from realism to pessimism. Perhaps I am a bit overly optimistic in your opinion but I ask you- where would this country be without optimists? Without people with the fortitude to believe in an ideal and make it real through hard work and dedication?
Many times I look at today's society and wonder if my generation could make it through The Great Depression. If we would have fought the battles for civil rights for minorities and women. I also see how some of those who did became cynical and jaded and out for their own gain. Change takes effort, energy and wicked persistence. Change takes a leader that can inspire others to believe.
When I look around today I find precious few with that quality of true leadership. I don't see it in Kerry, I certainly don't see it in Bush. "Johnny Sunshine" is an appropriate nickname for John Edwards not only due to his sparkling smile but for the inspiring light of optimism he brings to a country in need.
To answer my rhetorical question from earlier- I believe that without optimism; without idealists we would be in a sad, morally destitute wasteland where selfishness and greed rule the day. I am willing to run any race necessary to keep my children out of a place like that. I believe John Edwards is the man to set the pace.
