Old (and I do mean OLD) Fred never really wanted to be President, he doesn't have any of that yucky personal ambition stuff, he just is doing us all a great big favor by offering himself up, he's the Eucharistical Candidate! Or something!

What a self-important dumbass...

I'll take a candidate with ambitions, a WORK ETHIC and a double helping of BRAINS please...which means I'm voting for a DEM!

3. As he says on Stephanie Miller's show "I'm kinda tired. I think I'll go home now."
That just about summarizes Fred Thompson for us!

10. Sounds like it, but I did think it was Jim, her voice guy. I could be wrong!
He's so talented, I think he does everything, which I don't think is the case. Anyway, I wish I could get the full 3 hours of Stephanie. I only get the last 2 hours and even then, it gets very static the closer I get to the water (Long Island Sound).

I loves me my Stephanie, tho!

6. Somebody convinced that idiot that if he...
Edited on Sat Dec-29-07 07:27 PM by Mr_Jefferson_24
...just showed up he'd be anointed, just like Chimpy -- so that's exactly what Fred has done, just showed up, and pretty much nothing else. It doesn't seem to be working out, so now this dolt of a dead man walking is looking for a face saving exit strategy. Maybe if he'd worked on coming up with a face saving exit strategy for extracting our troops from Iraq, rather than for extracting himself from his ill-fated bid for the Republican nominee, he might've been taken a bit more seriously.

Can't say I'm gonna miss Freddy. Nixon had him pegged right -- not too bright.

11. My folks were here right before Christmas
and of course we talked politics since we were all "relaxing" watching CNN one evening. My dad and stepmother are friendly with a GOP senator who lives in their small town and shall remain nameless. Anyway, my dad has gone from voting for the Chimp to calling Chimpy and Cheney war criminals (but do I say "I told you so"? - no, not me).

Anyhoo, they were at a party with this senator who my dad likes personally - a small gathering where my dad got a chance to chat with him for a while, and my dad asked senator X what he thought of Fred Thompson. The senator told my dad - and this is almost verbatim - that Fred Dalton Thompson was the laziest SOB he'd ever seen in the Senate. Ever.

I found it interesting that a member of his own party would speak so candidly about him to a known ex-GOP'er. It also made my night because my dad and I used to argue bitterly about the Chimperor and his party, and the fact that he dropped that gossip nugget was something that NEVER would have happened before. Iraq changed my dad and he says he'll vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is. Unbelievable.

12. I wish I could nominate YOUR post, bluedem!
I think your story is not so unusual. I am 47 years old, so I've been fighting for about 40 years with my older cousin. He is a sweet, smart, charming doctor in ID (I'm in El Lay) and his family has always been GOP, mine, very much NOT!

Well, he wrote my sister last year that he has "officially decided that Democrats are NOT the spawn of Satan, LOL" and....hold on to your hat ladies and gentlemen, he is probably going to vote for one next time around.

We have BushCo to thank for that. He voted for him first time around but was horrified at what goons they turned out to be.
