I urge everyone to see "So Goes The Nation", a documentary
on the 2004 election with a focus on Ohio. Folks ,we are up against a fascist party that wraps itself in the flag while it desecrates the concept of free elections. I know I am not telling DUers anything that they do not know, but watching this film brought home how vital it is that we take back the White House in 2008. There is a lot of vitriol being pumped into our primary campaigns. My prayer is that we are able to coalesce around our nominee whoever it is. Our existence as a democracy rather than an empire demands it. Any of our candidates is better than anyone the GOP or a third party can offer. Let's not lose sight of that.If there is a doubt in your mind, watch the movie and see young Republican thugs hurl epithets at Kerry supporters while a smug Ken Blackwell presides over an epic deprivation of his own race's ability to vote that dwarfs what Bull Conner was able to achieve in Alabama.
Democrats play rough in primaries. That is our nature. But let us not argue ourselves into positions from which we cannot extricate ourselves from in the General Election.
