2. I would feel that he would command enormous respect from all theaters.
Gov. Richardson would speak to -- and for -- segments of the cultural mosaic that hve gone ignored and abandoned under the Bush administration.

I like people who are at ease and very effective around animals. If you can get your hands on the footage, watch how Bill Richardson treats horses. There is a comfort that he has with power -- politically and elementally. He knows its abuses and he can manage its properties. I personally believe this is the secret to his diplomatic triumphs, which are numerous and considerable.

And I like him. He's quite intelligent and not at all lofty.

He's a good man.

5. Something I haven't felt in many years: HOPE
I live in his state. I know he can make mistakes, but that on the whole that rumpled appearance conceals an amazingly intelligent and competent administrator, one who is capable of change if he sees something isn't working, and one who isn't so wedded to ideology he'll sacrifice his state/country to it.
