ignorant obama solicitor called this morning....
this woman/girl called and asked if I'd consider voting for her candidate because he was the agent of change against washington insiders.
when I mentioned he IS a washington insider, she told me no, he is in Illinois not washington. when I advised her that he was the senator from Illinois working in washington most of the time and was thus an insider, she got all indignant and told me he did not live in washington, he was a senator IN Illinois, he lived in illinois, and wanted to go to washington to change things. We never did talk about policies, and without discussing the merits or lack thereof in obama's views, I suggested she learn more about what a US senator is and does.

she then told me that if that is how I feel then they do not want my support anyway.

seems like a promoter of any candidate ought to at least know who and what he/she is and does before trying to convert people to that candidate's side.

well at least the clinton campaign has stopped sending me solicitations to donate to her senate campaign in new york, 3000 miles away.
Now if Bill would stop sending me junk mail.....

Msongs

5. That's unfortunate...
it seems like all campaigns get occasional volunteers that have more enthusiasm than knowledge.

inexperience, juvenile, with lots of enthusiasm.

20. It sure beats arrogance and inside the beltway condescention
but every campaign is noteworthy in its own way.

26. Sometimes that happens when you have a lot of enthusiastic volunteers
Not that the Clinton campaign would know about that.

9. my nephew ( 24) likes him because he is cool..
I said, what about his health plan or his views on gays?... didn't know a thing.
I pointed out we had the "have a beer with" guy already. We aren't electing a friend..but a President. He promised to read up on the candidates, but I doubt he will, in fact I doubt he will even vote.

17. cool is not a critical qualification for a president
Jesse Ventura was elected MN Governor in part by buying pizza and courting the young person's vote. I was a 40 year old college student at the time, and many of the traditional college kids said they were excited to vote in their first election because they were voting for Jesse Ventura. He was cool! He was a wrestler and he wasn't like other politicians. After being elected, he made his positions more clear, and the young people were sad they voted for him.

"If students are smart enough to go to college, they're smart enough to figure out how to pay for it," Jesse Ventura said.

At the age of 18, a person is given the right to vote and is considered an adult. It is time to act like one. If your nephew is going to support Obama, then that is fine, but he needs a better reason.

12. Most of my wife's family support Obama
because he's black. They don't know squat about his positions and when they actually learn his policies, they don't agree with some of them. But they are still supporting him due to his being black like them. Sad, but true.

14. because he's black
do they know, his black roots were slave traders? and his white roots were slave owners? if they are going to vote on the race issue, they should consider all those facts...

otherwise, they and others should educate themselves on all the issues...

I saw many college kids vote for Jesse Ventura for Governor in MN b/c they thought he was cool... he came on campus and bought pizza... he was a wrestler, not a politician... and a few years later, they realized that the guy did not support funding colleges or anything else young people wanted... he only wanted to buy them pizza to get their vote..

great if Obama is getting people out of their homes and interested in politics... let's get them to read the issues and become lifetime voting dems...

19. yes, IF the only reason you vote for Obama is because he is black
if you are going to be narrow minded and vote based on race, then consider all parts of the race issue.... not just the color of a person's skin...

27. Most of the Clinton supporters I know support her either because she's a woman
Or because she's married to Bill Clinton. I don't necessarily think those are terrible reasons but they certainly don't speak to her positions.

15. I received a similiar Obama call
I have never received a call like the one I got earlier in the year from an Obama supporter... she sounded uninformed, and lacked any meat to her script even.... I am listed as a strong dem and get all the emails and mailings and calls... this was unbelievable... she was also rude... and ended up hanging up on me when I said I was not going to be sending money to anyone yet as I was undecided...

25. I wonder how many of these calling shills are paid for by the GOP? ...
we all experienced a lot of this during the '04 election. Easiest thing in the world to call and say you are a supporter of ________and then appear to be so stupid that you reflect badly on the candidate you supposedly represent.
