Bush Volunteered For Active Viet Nam Duty But Was Denied....
Apparently they're trying to float this one out there... this is what we're running against.

"But let's just consider what Racicot is doing here.

This wasn't a slip of the tongue. This was deliberate. Now that the topic has been moved a bit to the back burner, they're trying to get back on the offensive by floating a deliberate and undeniable deception in the hopes that no one will notice. If no one does then the new false story will become the accepted version in the coming campaign debate.

You really can't let your eyes off them for a second.

Is anyone going to ask the campaign or the White House whether their new line is that the president volunteered to go to Vietnam but just never got picked?"

1. His official papers can prove or refute this
He filled out a form on what kind of duty he wanted, stateside vs overseas, among other things.

I believe I've seen on the internet, the form requesting stateside
duty.

9. Great Memory - our Vietnam volunteer demanded "stateside only duty"
and the official papers exist to prove that.

But will the media call him and the RNC/Rove on this -

nah - media will let it slide - just politics - can't say liar about un-important info that does not affect/reflect fidelity in marriage question.

2. Josh is right on target again......
Pointing out how this admin continues to lie to the American people.

Below is some more from his site on this subject.....

Now, here's what the president himself said just two weeks ago ...

RUSSERT: Were you favor of the war in Vietnam?
BUSH: I supported my government. I did. And would have gone had my unit been called up, by the way.

RUSSERT: But you didn't volunteer or enlist to go.

BUSH: No, I didn't. You're right.

Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 10:43 PM by WhoCountsTheVotes
right? Bush wanted to go fight commies (like Kerry did) but a black guy took his place due to damnable affirmative action right?

7. There was other info
back when --that he did not have the flight hours requirement.
Seem to remember also he did request active duty--turning out to be an empty gesture with not qualifying.

8. That's What Tom DeLay Actually Said
"So many minority youths had volunteered for the well-paying military positions to escape poverty and the ghetto that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like himself."

4. Yeah and I didn't
volunteer to go VietNam. When you learn Vietnamese you go to VietNam. There were no billets for F-102 pilots in Viet Nam.
He'd have to have retrained on some other aircraft.
And the Guard won't spend the money unless one was on a second 6 year
hitch.

10. Dad Bush choose a F102 outfit because plane was already rejected for
Vietnam - making boy Bush safe to do cocaine, rape 15 year olds and pay for their abortion, due community service in 72, and for some reason decline to take a physical in 72, losing flight status, despite standing order to take said physical.

And yes folks missed their physical - for 30 days, or 60 days - but not for 2 years.

15. It's happened before
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 10:15 AM by LittleDannySlowhorse
None other than Tom DeLay himself has said that the reason he didn't serve in Vietnam was because he volunteered, but all spaces had already been taken up by minority applicants.

He said this with a straight face.

All these people belong in prison.

EDIT: I posted this before reading the other responses and didn't see that this had been brought up already. My apologies.

There's a greater probability of finding George W Bush there than in a war zone.

Fuck you, Racicot! Fuck you, Bush!
