OBAMA GRAMMAR FAILURE: A dangerous preposition for our country, lacks indirect (object) experience
Edited on Fri Dec-28-07 07:02 PM by jpgray
"It's that experience, that understanding, and not just of what world leader I went and talked to in the ambassador's house who I had tea with."

Not a man with whom any grammatical person would trust the presidency. It's all over for him now.

Now swarm! Swarm, I say.

6. You are right, but my issue with that statement was its inherent sexist language, I am sorry to say.
I truly don't think Obama is a sexist male. I think one of his advisors dreamed up this statement and it is unfortunate. If Hillary Clinton sat down and talked with Benazir Bhutto, why is that characterized as a tea party? Come on folks, this is not the way to look at the head of a country greeting the First Lady of the U.S. (who does have to move within her designation of "First Lady" even if she deserves a better, more updated title when she visits foreign leaders.)

This is a disappointing statement, IMHO, and I am an Edwards supporter.

8. Yawn....
I,too, notice that a lot of folks confuse the who with whom.

I also notice that a lot of folks confuse having tea at an ambassador's house with foreign policy understanding.

It's the old rule of grammar politics--judge not another's pronouns whilst thy own participles yet dangle.

13. "Madam Prime Minister, would you like some tea?"
"Oh, my dear First Lady ... I prefer coffee ..."

or is it,

"Dear Benazir, would you like some tea?"
"But Hillary, you know i like coffee"

Or is it,

"Madam First Lady, may I offer you tea and crumpets?"
"Oh, but Madam prime minister ... i so much prefer coffee and coffee-cakes"

were hillary and benazir on a first name calling basis when out of camera reach,
or,
did formality become their preferred treatment of each other even when out of camera range.

15. In Hillary's case, it would be decaf black or with a little milk and no sugar.
Since they were quite friendly for more than a dozen years, they probably eschewed formality.

16. Did Bhutto's desire for something hot and black provide clear evidence of preemptive Obama support?
We can only assume "yes."

18. I am a "grammatical person." In fact, I am THE "grammatical person."
"It Is Usually Not Wrong to End a Sentence with a Preposition"

"Prepositions: Further Explanation of Why the 'Rule' Is Wrong"
http://grammartips.homestead.com/prepositions2.html

It is true that "whom" is correct in that sentence, but there is nothing wrong with his ending the sentence with "with."

I would prefer Edwards, but I certainly would accept Obama (or Hillary, or Joe, or any of our other fine candidates).

19. That's what got us into this clusterfu*k we are in now. GOP,RNC
and the media sold 50+% of americans that bush did not have to be the smartest man in the room but he was so likable and you could have a beer with him. I doubt and I hope and pray those americans that voted for bush because of that will not do the same with Obama. Oh Obama is so like Elmer Gantry and he will bring rain to all the dry lands and dazzle you with his bullshit and baffle you with his brillance... If that is all obama has going for him and he does happen to be elected we are in a world of hurt friends....I say this is too big an election to give to a novice......
