If I see one here in AZ trying to get him on the ballot, I'll be sure to give them my two cents!

1. I flipped one off on the expressway the other day.
When I see the words "Ralph Nader" I lose all strength of will, capacity for rationality, and so forth....

10. Good point
The Democrats are going to have to be an umbrella organization this year, now more than ever. Ostracizing people for not following the DLC party line won't help. Convince them why they should be on your side.

If you aren't going to support a Democrat beat Bush, you are already out of the party. If you abandon the party and the country in this hour of need, you're pretty much dead to the party anyway.

It's going to be pretty damn hard to win an election with the 36% of voters who are IN the party. Might want to re-think that.

40. And what will you do...
vote for Nader and live under Bush rule for four more years? Maybe, in the next four years Bush can undo the two term rule and we can keep him for longer? You really are scaring me.

Honestly, though. This is a free country and we are all free to support and vote for whoever we please. BUT, this is DEMOCRATIC Underground, not Independent Underground. I'm sure Nader supporters are more welcome over at Free Republic. Rush Limbaugh was praising the heck out of Nader this morning. He's ecstatic he's running. Kind of tells you something, doesn't it?

from any Republican--both want to defeat Dems.

Once someone gets wacked out enough to support a megalomaniacal wal-mart profiteering, union busting, INDISTINGUSHABLE-from-Bush liar there's little chance they'll have the sense to join the fight to rid their country of the worst admisitration in history.

I see you are an Edwards supporter. Sometimes my temper gets up and I want to go all cut throat. Then I remind myself that the reason I like John Edwards is his positive message.

Let's not attack Ralph Nader, unless he attacks us first.

Try to have a nice conversation with them, that in our current system of plurality winner takes all electoral college, there is no way to see it other than a vote for Nader being a vote for Bush.

45. to some extent
Nader is no friend to the cause (results, not position wise). Therefore we must be steadfast in trying to convince his would be supporters that a repeat of another four years is not in everyones interest and their efforts effectively lead to that conclusion by splitting the opposition.

Of course it's not OK to harrass or abuse folks who are trying to change the political process. I don't agree with the way they are trying to do that, I do believe they are on our side.

We have to figure out a way to unify and harrassing folks is not the way.

29. I've seen plenty of posters here at DU
complain that they have been harassed because of their bumper sticker, tshirt,hat..etc.. and everyone chimed in to say that it proved how incredibly intolerant and ignorant "those" people were.

If you want to join in on that type of behavior, you reflect badly on the ideals espoused by those that seek peace with their neighbor.

Anyway, I was disgusted by the harassment Democrats received from Nader-supporters and Greens after sElection 2000. At pro-recount rallies there were ALWAYS Nader/Green-types hanging around and just yelling nasty things. I could ALMOST tolerate Nader and his supporters before that.

This whole topic makes my blood boil, but the more I think about it, there isn't really a chance in hell Nader will have the impact on this election he had on the last one. I'll be surprized if he gets enough signatures to get on most of the ballots.

I think it's best we Dems quit fanning the flames and let this one die out on it's own. The media loves a dogfight and if we keep giving them one over this, we're just giving Ralph free publicity.

Like I said... Ignore them. They will go away.

51. This fear of Nader works almost like homophobia!
Homophobes hate gays because they are insecure in their own sexuality, so they feel threatened by gays.

People that are secure in their own sexuality do not feel threatened by someone else's.

This fear of Nader I see in many threads in DU works almost like homophobia. I wonder if the people that are insecure in their own belief system, or in the "electability" of their candidate, are the ones that feel the most threatened by Nader.

People that are secure about their belief system and in their candidate, even if he has dropped out, do not feel threatened by a candidate like Nader who won't even have his name on the ballot of most states.

I don't see John Edwards having kittens about Nader!
