I'm uncomfortable with the analysis of the impact that Bhutto's murder will have on the US presidential primary. I'm also uncomfortable with any of the Democrats using this tragedy for politic advantage, HOWEVER I find the outrage at Axelrod to be laughable. These are the times in which we live and EVERYTHING will be viewed politically, Obama's camp is not supposed to sit idly by and let Clinton use this to her political advantage. You can blame the press all you want, but we all know ANY CANDIDATE (not just Hillary) would have leveraged the praise they received on this issue to their advantage.

I'm uncomfortable with the whole thing but I know how the game is played. You can't just sit there and let your opponent get political leverage without speaking up.

Political strategists for every candidate spent the entire day trying to figure out how to manage this situation, especially to their advantage.

ON M'FING EDIT: A number of DUers are sincerely upset about the situation, BUT UNFORTUNATELY A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF DUers could care less and their outrage on this issue is feigned for political purposes. Yeah I said it, so live with it!

But then all three "top tier" Dem candidates haven't any experience to run on in the foreign policy dept.

3. Axelrod's mistake, in my opinion,
was inserting Hillary -- by name -- into an answer to a question that didn't require it, thereby creating an unnecessary firestorm where there hadn't been one.

To have made a statement burnishing Obama's credentials, referring to what Bhutto said about him not long ago (or at least I think she said something about him long ago), even how Obama perhaps understands how something like this could happen or how he feels deeply for her family and supporters ... any of those would have been preferable to what was ultimately said and is now being widely regarded as an unnecessary cheap shot at his main opponent. And only days before the Iowa Caucus.

4. When you are a week away from the Iowa Caucus and your opponent (Hillary) is getting praise. . .
. . .you have to respond directly.

10. but if one is selling the politics of Hope and Change
is there perhaps a better way of responding? Allowing her to get her praise -- and not responding to it or acknowledging it, but burnishing your own candidate's qualities -- is going to make less news than taking an unnecessary cheap shot at her.

What would have been -- with regards to Hillary -- a story for a day or two (perhaps) has the potential now, unfortunately for Obama, to be much more. Axelrod, in my opinion, not only handed the MSM the gasoline, but lit the damn match! And he's a Chief Campaign Strategist?!

23. feigned outrage?
are you kidding me? I wish David Axelrod would open his pie-hole MORE on national TV. If he's the best Obama's got, I say put him out in public more often.

6. Yep, it's fine to use this tragedy if you are an establishment candidate
If you point out that the Iraq war was responsible for distracting us from the fight against the SAME PEOPLE WHO COMMITTED THE ASSASSINATION, it's totally unfair and reprehensible.

13. DU is for people with the sickness
And I don't mean that in a bad way. People here were talking about the political affects of Reagan dieing before he even died. Politics is a game. Today, Bhutto is a football. I know that's crude, but that's it.
