Man, Huckabee's got a great sense of humor!
Regarding his opponents in Iowa:

"If I were some of these guys...I'd have to be sitting in a warm tub of water with some razor blades in my hands!"

Beautiful, Huck. Suicide jokes are always classy.

6. I think Huckster is a better politician than Bill Clinton if that is possible
He wins every debate with southern country charm and humor.
I watched him on C-Span campaigning and he is smooth as silk on the stump
and very good with small talk one on one with voters.

Watch this dude carefully. He is the scariest of all the repugs. I can see
why he has multiple wins in Arkansas. Modern day Elmer Gantry.

7. I Pray that the Repiglicons Do NOT Nominate Huckabee
Huckabee would destroy HRC or Obama and they'd probably take back the Senate and maybe the House.

Would it be worth becoming Repiglickin briefly so we can vote against Huckster in their primary?
That might be more important than deciding between Hillary and Obama, if that is all we get to do on the Democratic side.

Why do we have such feeble candidates this year?

9. Huckabee would be easy to destroy in the general campaign
His clemency issues would be just the tip of the iceberg.

16. If what you say is true then Rudy, Mitt & Fred should have
already destroyed the Huckster. If they can't destroy this dude
amongst the right wingers, what makes you think the more progressive
cross section of voters in GE will be worse for Huckster?

22. I think you got it backwards!
Huckster should be easier to destroy in the primaries because the repugs
hate 1000+ commutations of convicted criminals, awarding scholarships to
children of illegals, more than the general population. The right wingers
hate him more without a doubt.

In general election in november, he will run as a compassionate christian,
abolish IRS (hated by 99% of people), talk to Iran instead of attacking them,
etc. His debating skills, political skills are better than any candidate I have
observed in recent times.

I am afraid, very afraid, if he gets the nomination we are screwed. But on the
plus side I just don't see the repugs nominating him.

14. er, no he wouldn't
a significant chunk of repugs will not vote for him. period. Just as Guiliani peels off a large number of fundy wingnuts, Hucky peels off the social moderates/fiscal conservatives, in places like Iowa, Ohio, CO, etc. He also peels off the big money repukes who are already sitting on their money bags. He'd be the easiest to beat. He's a lovely target; from covering up for his dog murdering progeny to prison pardons for violent criminals to petty corruption. I hope like hell he is the nominee.

15. Nooooooo! He's Too Dangerous. ALL Repiglickans are Electable (We Should Know After 2000 & 2004)
The consequences of a Huckabee Presidency are too horrible.

He looks better on TV than our candidates do, and he is a Republican, so he IS electable.

23. OH YES!
He'd be so easy to beat! Did you hear about the joke he told about all the "old hippies getting free drugs" through Medicare? What an idiot--us "old Hippies" are a huge part of the population. He can't afford to alienate ANY group of people!

18. Re: Suicide
Every day more than 80 families in the U.S. are ravaged by the painful
loss of a loved one to suicide. Since 9/11 we have lost more than
180,000 Americans to suicide and left more than one million family
members and loved ones left to deal with the wreckage. Each year more
than 600,000 Americans attempt suicide and are hospitalized as a
result. The toll is so profound that the rate of suicide in college
aged young people ranks second only behind unintentional injury.

When a leading Presidential candidate uses suicide and specifically
means to do it as a joke, it is grossly irresponsible and is a
disgrace. It also must be met with an immediate rebuke from the mental
health community. This is no joking matter. Lives are at stake.

As founders of 1-800-SUICIDE, which has connected more than 2 million
callers in crisis to help and hope, we are outraged that Huckabee has
shown such ignorance and lack of care in his use of suicide as a
political tool to attempt to improve his standing in the race. More
importantly, he and the rest of the United States should know that
using this type of speech in a public way could cause irreparable harm
and even suicide by its cavalier use.

In 2001 the Annenberg Foundation conducted research into appropriate
use of the term "suicide" in the media, and how actual suicides should
be covered to not cause suicide but to educate and help people
understand that suicide can be prevented. Huckabee has set back that
movement with his careless remarks. For more information please contact

The Kristin Brooks Hope Center/National Hopeline Network is a

and healing: by providing a single point of entry to community-based
crisis services through innovative telephony and internet based
technologies; by bringing national attention and access to services for
postpartum depression and other women's mood disorders; through
education and advocacy; through formal research and evaluation of
crisis line services; and, by championing the need for national funding
for community-based suicide prevention crisis services.
