Get the Damn Thing Over With - What one right wing pundit thinks.
Please note, Townhall is a project of the Heritage Foundation. Yes, THAT Heritage Foundation.

My theory is that the longer John Edwards stays in the race, the worse it is for President Bush.

No, I'm not really worried that Edwards will actually beat Kerry. Of course, it's possible, but unless Kerry decides to spend some of his TV face time screaming the names of all the states he can think of, it's a real long shot. And even if Edwards were to get the nomination, it wouldn't matter much, except that he can't do it unless the race is prolonged, maybe right up to the convention.

That's what should worry Bush supporters, regardless of who wins.

It's a simple point, really. The Bush campaign is hemorrhaging votes. Why would this be? Oh, sure, some of it is self-inflicted base trimming. The Administration's big spending proposals upset many conservatives, and his illegal immigrant amnesty plan angered others – and not necessarily the same ones either, meaning that the polling results of the two actions are to some extent cumulative.

The American electorate is also growing decidedly tired of Iraq.

1. A former NATO general, a 5 term governor, a Florida Senator/governor,
just a few among the candidates who didn't make the cut. All engaging in a debate exposing this misadministration for what it is.
They should be concerned.

2. I agree......Until the nominee is decided, we're a moving target
...much harder for them to hit with any kind of focused attack. Once the nominee is decided, whoever it is, they are a sitting duck. So the longer this plays out, the more abstract the ABB concept is and the more people like it and can't compare one to the other (even though I wouldn't worry too much about that anyway).

3. Reasonable analysis. A question
What does he think Republicans can do about ending the Dem
primary? Is he suggesting we can't continue our debate
because it's making Bush look bad? Will there be a new law,
or an edict?

I have some ideas for what I would like Republicans to do. I
think I'll write an article and send it to AEI.

4. Diebold. GOP Governorships. Antonin Scalia. Their fallback position.
Don't get your hopes up about beating GWB; these people will stop at nothing, my idealistic friends. I post idealistically here all the time, debating Dean v. Kerry; Clark v. Edwards; Gore v. Supreme Court, etc. However, deep down inside, I think we are fooling ourselves. We have never seen anything like this cabal; they will stop at nothing. It's time to recognize that fact. That is the "hatred" of Bush you see curiously reported in the corporate media.
