Obama said Paul Wellstone was "magnificent"
Edited on Mon Dec-24-07 09:06 AM by Enrique
since he's saying things like this, he might be "The One"

<edit>

Obama’s deference to these boundaries was hammered home to me when our discussion touched on the late Senator Paul Wellstone. Obama said the progressive champion was “magnificent.” He also gently but dismissively labeled Wellstone as merely a “gadfly,” in a tone laced with contempt for the senator who, for instance, almost single-handedly prevented passage of the bankruptcy bill for years over the objections of both parties. This clarified Obama’s support for the Hamilton Project, an organization formed by Citigroup chair Robert Rubin and other Wall Street Democrats to fight back against growing populist outrage within the party. And I understood why Beltway publications and think tanks have heaped praise on Obama and want him to run for President. It’s because he has shown a rare ability to mix charisma and deference to the establishment.

2. Cute - At Very Best, This Is Awful Journalism
You're trying to sneak in Sirota's saying that Obama thinks little of Wellstone, but this piece is not the way to do it. An actual substantive quote should have been used - it was not. Just snippets, with context supplied by Sirota. Did Obama actually say that he was against Wellstone's fighting the Bankruptcy Act (which Edwards voted for twice, Clinton once)? If he did, use the quote. If there's no quote, he didn't say it.

One can only wonder if this is a junior-high-school-level hit piece.

4. the context Sirota provides is hilariously useless
We don't know what Obama said exactly, but Sirota tells us that it was gentle. But it was also dismissive. Oh, and laced with contempt.

Can someone explain what kind of change --real change--Obams
offers. The Republicans have the market cornered on Deference
to Establishment. Obama is giveing them a run for their money
with charisma????? I thought we wanted change from Corporate
Subserviency.

Yes, HRC can be likewise accused.

Where is the change???
