Opposition to health care mandates in New Hampshire

-snip

The Associated Press reported a few weeks ago that the Clinton campaign "is preparing television ads here criticizing Barack Obama's health care plan" to air in New Hampshire in the event the Obama campaign "ignites in Iowa." Most surveys show that Democrats perceive Clinton as better able to handle the issue of healthcare, and the argument made by the Clinton campaign, that Obama's plan "could leave as many as 15 million people uninsured" no doubt scores well in message testing surveys. The data above, however, suggest that such an attack risks a backlash if the debate engages on the issue of "requiring individuals to buy health insurance."

2. Look, anyone who has studied mandates or single payer or how mandates
are working (not) in the states that have implemented them, knows they don't work and only add an extra layer of BS to an already broken system. They create risk categories and "pooling" and still give $$ to Big Ins. The problem is that candidates don't really tell the truth about Mandates when they talk about their healthcare plans. And most people won't/can't/don't want to read the fine print. It's too easy for Candidate X to promise INSURANCE FOR EVERYBODY !!! and not spell it out. There is so much obfuscation over this issue right now, so many distortions and half-truths, that I've at this point given up on healthcare as a voting issue for me.

Someday we, the People, will demand Universal Single Payer. But now, we can't even get Dems to agree on this. Until then, I guess something is better than nothing.

3. It's a shame
I wish they'd all scrap their plans and go for the gold. The public is ready like never before.

5. Interesting poll
People who have more money, have no problem with mandatory life insurance. For lower income folks, that is just one expense that they just can't fit into their already strained budget.

7. They've seen how well they work in Mass.
In other words: BAD F'N IDEA. Unless you like forcing people to buy into expensive shitty plans. The healthcare companies love the idea.
