Edited on Sun Dec-23-07 11:14 AM by Botany

Please join me in a cease fire over Christmas. Starting noon today until
12/26 @ 12:01 AM can we stop the garbage and the fighting? (Except for
republicans, the bush crime family, and the dirty media)

No Hillary bashing .... No Edwards and his 500,000 ft house stories, No
Obama just learned to read and write last year smack, No Dennis K rides
on UFO stories, and no attacking other DUers because of who they support
or what they write.

Please remember what this season is all about and why we need each other ....
And that is:
Going to the Republican in law's house and having the will power to stay
quite even though you want to scream. At that point you can drink too
much and say what you think or you can log onto DU and feel just how
much we really love each other

***************************************************

Mandolin Wind

When the rain came I thought youd leave
cause I knew how much you loved the sun
But you chose to stay, stay and keep me warm
Through the darkest nights Ive ever known
If the mandolin wind couldnt change a thing
Then I know I love ya

Oh the snow fell without a break
Buffalo died in the frozen fields you know
Through the coldest winter in almost fourteen years
I couldnt believe you kept a smile
Now I can rest assured knowing that weve seen the worst
And I know I love ya

Oh I never was good with romantic words
So the next few lines come really hard
Dont have much but what Ive got is yours
Except of course my steel guitar
Ha, cause I know you dont play
But Ill teach you one day
Because I love ya

I recall the night we knelt and prayed
Noticing your face was thin and pale
I found it hard to hide my tears
I felt ashamed I felt Id let you down
No mandolin wind couldnt change a thing
Couldnt change a thing no, no

The coldest winter in almost fourteen years
Could never, never change your mind

And I love ya
Yes indeed and I love ya
And I love ya
Lordy I love ya

1. You know what, someone asked for that the other day. And that person
was shouted down by some of the posters on this board, and at times rather nastily.

I hope you get a better crowd.

But it ain't gonna happen. I'm sorry, but you just know it won't.

4. Well you know what they say;
A journey of a thousand miles starts with putting your pants on one leg at
a time by gathering no moss.

I shall speak no ill will of others for that time and hope they do the same.

Besides I will be out here .... easy to be nice then.

5. We can hope
though I'm sure there are those who don't know how to turn if off. Meanwhile, we can choose to ignore them for a at least a few days. Of course, I personally prefer to ignore them most of the time anyway. I'm not fond of redundancy.

Have a great holiday!

7. It's easy for me to agree, since I do not do snark. I hope others join your thread in love and
peace for this season of joy. I'm afraid most have been traumatized by the past seven years or so, and just can't get past their sadness and the need to lash out, sometimes in unjustified ways. Merry Christmas everybody.

8. Obama learned to read and write last year? WHAT???
Who's saying that shit? That's just insane. He's a lawyer, fachrissake. The Clinton bashing is common, the Edwards House tales I have heard, the Kucinich UFO thing is known...but Obama can't READ or WRITE?

There are plenty of other weak spots that have been discussed about the Senator that you could have selected. I haven't heard anyone say that Senator Obama can't read or write, though.

And maybe even then not all the time.

We all have lots to learn about living with hearts of peace.

15. Interesting... 'No Hillary bashing..."
Then go on to make a specific swipe at KE, BO, and DK

Cute. Is it Freudian too? Seems to be somewhat telling, the way that was done. Ask for no HRC bash (in general) then go on to specify what not to bash about three other candidates

Peace and some subliminal on the side? Thanks but no thanks.

Just peace and a side of point out the tactic for me.

19. My dear Botany...
You most likely don't know me...

I mostly post in the Lounge...

But now and then I wander over here, and today I see something so beautiful...

That picture is wonderful!

And the lyrics break my heart, and make me cry...

We needed your important reminder!

How much we really do love one another...

So much, so much...

Merry Christmas to you and yours...

21. Why do I feel compelled to make snow shoe tracks?
I love that picture, and that cabin! But it's too perfect. It makes me want to ski or snow shoe around it. It won't be as pretty anymore. Maybe I'll make a snow igloo. Maybe even some yellow snow. :)

Have a nice holiday everyone!

25. Ski tracks or snowshoe prints do not take away from the beauty ....
.... Especially if somebody else has broken trail so your skiing is easier.

I remember seeing a moose in vermont once skiing. I swear I thought she was laughing
at me.

37. We've had such wonderful snow this December
in Vermont, that made scenes in the OP or just above. We've been snow shoeing and X-country skiing already a few times. Unfortunately, the past two days have been warmer with some rain just in time for Christmas. At least it will be a white one though. Cheers!

Oops.. off track for a minute. ~~

Botany, how would we inforce it if we tried the "24 hours of Peace"?

It's not like we have a penalty box here..

33. I've been preaching the Gospel of Obama.
Four friends and I went to Nevada for 10 days knocking on doors. It was really a great experience. This weekend, we had a table outside Whole Foods. California is trending O and I am thrilled!

Happy Holidays!
