Friends of the Earth Action: New Iowa ad campaign praises John Edwards' pledge to fight
WASHINGTON-Friends of the Earth Action announced today that it is running radio and web ads in Iowa to call attention to John Edwards' promise to take on corporate special interests.

"Corporate special interests are running amok in Washington. The system is broken, and John Edwards is the candidate who can fix it," said Friends of the Earth Action President Brent Blackwelder. "John Edwards has pledged to take on special interests and fight for working class Americans. His campaign's decision to reject contributions from corporate lobbyists reflects that commitment."

Friends of the Earth action is running a 60-second radio ad titled "Trust" in the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids markets. The ad salutes Edwards for offering "the boldest, most comprehensive plan to take our government back from the corporate special interests." The group is also running banner ads on desmoinesegister.com and CNN.com . The ads link to a YouTube video hosted by moneydontvote.com that focuses on the need for people, not special interests, to hold the power in our democracy-and on John Edwards' ability to lead this fight. The ads are part of an Iowa independent expenditure by Friends of the Earth Action. The group endorsed Edwards' candidacy in October and is also running an independent campaign on his behalf in New Hampshire.

"Corporate power and influence in Washington affect every issue, and they are the biggest obstacles in the fight for a healthy planet," Blackwelder said. "Just last week, the Big Oil lobby blocked a bill that would have promoted clean energy alternatives like wind and solar. John Edwards will fight these corporate polluters to protect people and the planet."

3. Terrific group! Beating down corrupt corporations is VERY important to deal w/ climate crisis.
Also -- this endorsement + $$$ support beats the pants off of Barack Obama making news by saying that he talks to Al Gore once every three weeks.

4. Let's give JE a promotion: from VP to President of the U.S. !!!

He did, after all, win the 2004 election with Kerry.
