Biden Pushes for 3rd in Iowa Caucuses
By BETH FOUHY – 3 hours ago

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Joe Biden's aides call it "Mo-Joe" — a last-minute surge of momentum and good luck they hope could power the Delaware senator into a better-than-expected showing in Iowa's leadoff caucuses

He draws enthusiastic crowds to his events and last week began his first sustained TV ad campaign. He was approved for $857,000 in matching funds this week by the Federal Election Commission, helping to ease the financial pressure on his cash-strapped campaign.

Operatives for rival candidates say privately they've detected substantial pockets of support for Biden in some rural areas and in the ethnic, heavily Catholic industrial towns along the Mississippi River in eastern Iowa. Complicated caucus rules

Should Biden get any sort of bounce out of Iowa, his team believes he would fare well in other early voting states such as Nevada, where he would benefit from long ties to organized labor, and South Carolina, where he has the support of several black legislators and community leaders.

3. Would it be Hillary?
That's the hard part for me. For Biden to get into 3rd place - who is going to fall?

Anything can happen!

6. again....no surprise
So many decisions are being made now....people are studying the candidates. They are looking past sound bites and glossy rhetoric. This honestly doesn't surprise me......but don't tell the top tier for a few days yet....OK???....:)

5. he and Edwards both have their own data that keeps them smiling
As he said the other day - it will be some 100,000 to 120,000 people who actually show up to caucus. It all comes down to which candidates have inspired enough passion to get their supporters actually to show up. They can probably both identify enough supporters to get 35%, if all showed up. If there is a surprise big turnout, and its all their folks, in rural areas, where the delegate-to-voter ratio is so much greater, well, all those folks in Des Moines currently responding to polls might not mean a whole lot.

It ain't over 'til it's over!

12. Me too
If for no other reason than I want a chance to vote and have it actually mean something. Having it all sewn up before great gobs of us vote on 2-5 is just wrong.

14. Lol, that's the "politics of hope" like I ain't seen it!
Not that it'd be bad thing. For one, it send the media into warp speed cover-their-ass mode, which would be very entertaining...

and for two, it'd be great for the country, wouldn't it?

Biden isn't my guy, but good luck to you and I sure hope he places well enough to carry on!

Biden would come in third in Iowa. He will replay that clip over and over again! "I am king of the Pundits!"
