Biden says CIA right on Iran's activities

Sioux City, Ia. - Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, in Sioux City, defended the role of the Central Intelligence Agency in the decisions the Bush administration has made in its policy toward Iran.

He focused his remarks mainly on reports about Iran's nuclear weapons capability. "It's not been so much that we've gotten bad intelligence, but that what we've gotten is manipulation of that intelligence by the president."

The CIA is indicating, meanwhile, Biden said, that it will not allow itself to be used again as the source of bad intelligence information.

Biden said that Iran, while what he called a "serious future problem," is "the least controversial threat facing us in that region." On the other hand, Biden said, Pakistan "is a country bristling with nuclear weapons."
