http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national.html

Review all the polls of the head to head contests, and you will notice that Edwards is the only Democrat(listed) that beats McCain. Mark my words folks the Repug power structure is taking HEAVY notice of this fact, and the Democrats better as well. Edwards is NOT my first choice(actually third), but by god if that is what it will take to prevent another repug president then that is who I will be supporting.

2. That's so strange!
But I have a feeling that ol' Grumpy John McC still might pull it off (the GOP nom).

3. you know how people are always complaining about how national polls
mean nothing? They're right. This is all before any negative coverage or ads of Edwards. It's pointless to make these comparisons at this point.

4. That is just not true
A simple search on Google proves otherwise. Nice try though.

7. I did
...I just don't take RealClearPolitics too seriously. But, even their numbers show Clinton beating McCain in the Gallup poll, and the average is just a difference of .3%.

I like John Edwards a lot, and I will definitely vote for him if he wins the nomination. If he continues to come on, I may very well vote for him in the primaries, as well!

14. I don't think so. He has aligned himself too much with Bush and the War
Once we remind everyone that he would be Bush Jr. II he will drop like a rock. The country is ready for a new direction. I think any of the Dems would beat him. I think Huckabee would be the hardest to beat because he is distancing himself from Bush.

16. Don't tell DU :)
Couldn't resist....most haven't gotten the meme yet, but JRE's supporters group has already pointed out that USA Today's dissed him, while applauding the year end corporate bonuses this year...in the brazillions! Oh, the irony!

the link I provided. It is a compilation over time over several DIFFERENT polling outfits. A wee bit more indicative than a single Zogby.

13. If you believe this you must also believe in how meaningful all the
national posts showing Clinton with a huge lead are. The truth is national polls, whether about the primaries, or head to head cross party matchup are not even remotely predictive at this point.

15. Sounds great, but I have to agree with Cali on this. At this stage of the game, things are simply
too fluid to put any stock in national polls. Too many people aren't paying attention. My god, we're nearly a year out. I'd prefer to focus on the candidates, see them through Iowa, NH and SC, and then start seeing how it all shakes out.
