Folks this is just laughable. The fact that many of Hillary's supporters are telling us how badly the Republicans will treat when Obama as if that is a reason not to vote for him. I can't believe they tell us this with a straight face. We all know how much the GOP hates Hillary and if they way the GOP treats Obama should influence the vote, then how should we view Hillary considering she is GOP enemy number 1.

Some of the arguments here on DU are just silly and counterproductive. For the record, I'm not a Hillary hater, I just prefer Obama.

10. the argument is that everyone who is going to hate Hillary already does...
therefore her poll numbers against republicans are closer to what they will actually be in the election while Obama will fare worse after he faces the same republican attack machine that Hillary has faced for over a decade.

That argument may or may not be true, but it isn't silly on its face. I'm sure that every candidate's negative ratings will go up during the campaign (they always do), but I don't know how much Clinton's, Obama's, or whichever republican's will go down relatively.

Other things are more important to me than what republicans want or think, which is why I'm supporting Edwards (although I like both Obama and Clinton).

15. IMO, the Dem candidates' negatives with Repukes is unimportant.
It's expected.

What matters is the Dem candidates' negatives with Democrats.

3. Republicans are strangely silent on Obama
Edited on Fri Dec-21-07 12:34 AM by niceypoo
Which leads me to suspect that they want him to be the nominee. Republicans hate anyone who becomes the nominee. It's what they do. If Obama does become the nominee, they wont be able to hide or contain their racism any longer which would be entertaining to watch (I always love it when the GOP self destructs). I suspect if Hillary wins, whoever runs against her will run as the anti-Hillary, like Rick Lazio did, which would also self destruct. Either way, It will be a joy to watch!

5. He fares much better in a matchup with the GOP.
The most striking is that she is statistically tied with Huckabee (she is up by 2 pts), and Obama kicks his butt by 12 points. She doesn't fare much better in other matchups.

Edwards and Obama both do much better against the GOP than Hillary does.

I can't imagine the Republicans wanting what would clearly be the stronger candidate running against their guy.

7. I can, and neither is "clearly stronger"
If the republicans feared him they would be launching attack ads. Its what they do when they fear someone. Im sure their plans are to run with their idiotic "Osama obama" bullcrap or something similar. Republicans are retards.

11. Hillary is a fundraising tool for the GOP.
I don't think it has anything to do with fear but rather they speak her name or show her visage and all the hate that the GOP has instilled and cultivated over the years is easily and readily summoned to rally the base.

And ftr a preponderance of polling has shown for a while now that both Edwards and Obama fare much, much better in matchups with the GOP than Hillary does who manages to tie or just squeak by in most cases. In my world of rationale, that makes Edwards and Obama stronger candidates.

If I recall he was the, "Most electable." The, "Base" didn't go nuts over him, right? How did that turn out, by the way?? lol

14. I see the same erroneous calculations at play this go.
If Hillary Clinton wins the nomination - particularly under the current circumstances with the nasty politics they are employing - it will fracture the Democratic Party and then nobody wins.

And that isn't funny at all.

6. i`m not sure which one scares the republicans the most
a strong willed woman or a guy that`s a different color than they are. the republicans are not going to vote for either barrack or hillary. on the outside chance that huckafuck gets the nod then i could see some of the more moderate republicans voting for who ever the democratic candidate is.

9. Yep! And for months on end all we heard was we need a fighter
and now that HRC has shown she will fight even those running against her in the democratic ccampaign, everyone that supports someone else is so upset. Listen folks this is not touchy-feely nicey nice, this is hardball in the truest sense of the word. You wanted a bear in this contest and folks you have a damn grizzley with HRC. She is letting those on the right know by her actions in this go round she will fight back...

We had no fighter in 2000 and 2004 and now we have a golden opportunity to elect another democratic president that can and will right this ship that is afloat and do those things we as democrats will feel damn good about...

Ben David

17. you might be misunderstanding
what it sounds like you are talking about is Hillary's answer to questions about her own unfavorable ratings, where she answers that that unfavorability is because of the constant attacks on her by the RW smear machine. She says that these attacks aren't really about Hillary herself, and that any dem that reaches power will be subject to the same attacks.

Imo, there's nothing silly about this reasoning, although I know that any idea can be spun to sound silly.

If you're not interested in this response, and are just interested in discounting any argument that favors Hillary, then disregard this explanation.
