Anyone believe that posting here will get their candidate elected?

I come here for an information exchange. I check stories against the board's collective 'wisdom', and I share whatever I find. I also try to provide some clarification of my candidate's record. I have no illusions that any attack post I serve up on any other candidate will amount to anything beyond my own hyperventilating.

I get the impression that many here feel that the election battle can be influenced here to the point of an actual change in the numbers. Whadda ya think?

1. maybe a little
I really wasn't sure who to vote for a few months ago. I came here for some "second opinions". I think that there are some more that come to the DU that are in the same vote. But that's just for the primaries. I don't think that this site will attract many people who are truely undecided in the general election.

I think if we all were to stand behind whoever the democratics elect and go spread the word with some organization then we could have a profound impact IMO. I have gotten my g/f and my best friend interested in politics, and paying attention to what's going on. That's two new voters right there.

4. I have seen some come here and claim enlightenment after reading a post
Could happen I suppose, on the margins. Ripple effect and the like. I still think that our actual influence is much less than the zeal of our posts here would suggest.

3. No.....and not to be mean but it's the same problem....
That exists over the course of the entire internet on a variety of subjects. That being that everyone thinks that their opinion carries much more weight than it actually does. This leads to an inflated sense of ego and importance that leads to more anger and animosity and defensiveness. "How dare you not be persuaded by my lengthy anonymous rant on a message board!!!!!!"

We're all guilty of it.

6. I encourage people to post here about their candidate
I supported General Clark and hope that he will have a positive influence on the next administration, but I have yet to get the fire in my belly for another candidate. Please convince me that your candidate is who I support.

Caveat: I WILL NOT vote for nader. I will vote for the democratic candidate whomever that might be. I live in Mississippi and my one little vote will be cast during our primary on 9 March. Right now, I don't know who I will vote for (Kerry or Edwards), please keep posting and convince me. Thanks for your continued input.

7. Undeniably,
we have plenty of evidence to the contrary: Wes Clark, Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich's slim electoral chance.

9. NO. I believe that posting here is a valuable opportunity to arm
people with information so that candidates MAY be elected and issues MAY be discussed all of which leads to possibly electing candidates.

With our growing membership and lurkers, we DO stand a chance to make a difference.

11. Actually, I think that...
many people post here not to have any candidate win, but to PREVENT a candidate from winning.

I point to the "Anybody but Bush" crowd (which I am a member of) and the "NOT KERRY" crew.
