Huckabee applauds Jamie Lynn Spears for choosing life
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 04:41 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
(That's Britney Spears pregnant 16 year old sister, for those with a life)

No link, just a statement read on MSNBC.

It is always sort of thrilling to see a true amateur campaign.

30. It does seem very strange.
It makes his priorities as a "conservative" look a little odd. She would seem to be that which they claim to abhor - a pregnant, unwed teenager.

42. well that's how teenagers often get pregnant, and pro-life camp believes...
that no matter what the circumstances you need to choose "life". so i think the statement makes sense.

22. Don't forget he was governor of Arkansas. Think we rate about 3rd. in number of teenagers having
out-of-wedlock births. Also, right up there in the top 10 with domestic violence and sex acts on kids.

29. It wouldn't be a broken law in Alaska either.
There is no crime if the girl is 16 or over, unless the perp is a teacher or other person in authority, in which case the age of consent is 18.

These brilliant snobs telling people to abstain but when you can't, choose to have that baby.

Maybe if they would have taught her and her boyfriend about condoms, then 3 lives wouldn't be effected.

It is in no way relevant to the Presidential Race. It's just another case of a Republican trying to stick their nose in where it doesn't belong.

35. The fact that he would chose to even bother to issue a statement on
this shows me that it could actually be possible to dumb down the office of the President even further than we've already seen under Bush*. Can you imagine weekly statements from a President Huckabee, offering his opinions on everything posted on TMZ that week?

44. BREAKING NEWS: Bill Clinton applauds Jamie Lynn Spears...
...for "bein' willin' to put out when she was 16."

Seriously, although I will admit that the words "Huckabee" and "snark" seem to belong together, I don't see anything wrong with what he said. I've always pointed out that, if "pro-lifers" really walked the walk, it would be morally incumbent on them to support all human life, and that (among other things) includes supporting, with love and understanding, those who find themselves unwittingly pregnant, rather than subjecting them to moral condemnation. Otherwise, a "pro-life" message of "you shouldn't have an abortion because it's killing a baby, but if you decide to let the baby live, we'll ostracize you as a slut" is nothing but a cruel joke.

46. Well, since financial concerns are not an issue for this family...
...she has the luxury of "choosing life" without having to worry about how she'll feed or clothe this baby.

If RW "womb police" such as Huckabee and the rest of his out of touch with reality ilk want to see less termination of pregnancies, they could, for starters, put their money where their mouths are and open up their wallets to pregnant women in need.

If they aren't ready to do that, they need to put a sock in it and stop trying to police other peoples' reproductive choices.
