Edwards accuses Clinton of dirty pool
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 02:05 PM by ariesgem
The John Edwards campaign is crying foul today over a mailing to Iowa voters by a union supporting Hillary Clinton.

On the face of it, the flier that criticizes Barack Obama's healthcare plan appears to have Edwards' fingerprints on it. It quotes him making a criticism that Clinton has also made -- that Obama's plan would leave out 15 million of the estimated 47 million Americans without health insurance. Clinton isn't mentioned.

But the flier was sent by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, which has endorsed Clinton.

"There have been a lot of misleading tactics and tricks in the last few weeks, but we've just never seen anything like this before," Jennifer O'Malley Dillon, Iowa state director for the Edwards campaign, said in a statement. "Either they are trying to trick people, or they've realized that on health care, John Edwards is the candidate who speaks honestly about what it really costs and what will be required to have truly universal coverage.

"It's fine to have an honest debate about policy, but Iowans deserve better than planted questions and campaign fliers designed to fool them," she added.

1. But, but, but
The Clinton campaign had NOTHING to do with this...that's the M.O. have hatchet jobs done on opponents and then claim that they don't "speak" for her-you know after the fact. The old you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube syndrome.

3. You are right. It seems like that every day some group or person
is sliming one or another of Clinton's opponents in some really dirty ways. But Clinton comes out and says only that it wasn't her official campaign who did it. I hope no one is fooled by these tricks...
