Things I've learned in the past 2 days.
Paul Krugman is a partisan shill for Hillary.

Arnold Schwartzenegger is more of a Democrat than Jim Webb

And Donald Lambro's writing is valid.

Feb 6th can't come fast enough.

1. About two days after Obama nailed Hillary on a Social Security question at a debate
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 02:13 PM by rocknation
Krugman accused him of pandering to the right by being in favor of removing the salary cap! (link). I was suprised because he's usually on target, but I wasn't fooled (link)!

2. Krugamn castigated Obama for buying into the Chicken Little scenario w/SS
He made no mention of the cap on payroll taxes so I not sure what you are talking about.

9. What Krugman is referring to in term of pandering is stating that SS is in crisis.
Krugman makes no mention of the payroll tax salary cap.

11. I see.
Yeah, the whole sky is falling routine about SS would be a better example of pandering to that side.

12. Not that one can't disagree with Krugman on this.
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 02:50 PM by rinsd
There are debates about when SS will start to have issues with solvency.

Just let's be clear on what is said.

All that said, I see real merit in removing the payroll tax salary cap as a long term solution to SS's solvency and hope Hillary considers that option should she become President.

16. Agreed... and Krugman knows that as well...
re: solvency being an issue, but not one deserving the sky is falling treatment.

14. Sorry, still don't buy it...it all depends on the meaning of "is"..I mean, middle class.
http://www.factcheck.org/clinton_vs_obama.html

$97,000 is about the middle of middle class these days.

17. Hillary turned an income level issue into a class issue
Fortunately for her, Obama didn't also point out that with the salary cap gone, everyone can pay a LOWER rate.

Really? How many times have social security tax rates been LOWERED?

And ever since I remember, class levels have been determined by income levels.

While I might not agree w/ Webb on certain issues, I have yet to find anything I'd believe coming out of schwartzengroper's mouth.
