Top Progressive Talk Host Rips Into Hillary
Ed Schultz, the country's most widely syndicated progressive talk radio host, went into a lengthy diatribe on Tuesday over the refusal of Sens. Hillary Clinton and Joseph Biden to come on his show.

The Fargo-based talker, whose weekly audience is more than 2.5 million, saved much of his scorn for Clinton, who he claimed either does not give "a damn," or is "afraid" to answer his questions. The rant, which lasted nearly eight minutes, was prompted by a caller who accused Schultz of having an unfound bias against Clinton.

"How many times do we have people call in complaining about the main stream media not reporting this and not reporting that," the talk show host declared. "We give them a microphone and they don't even freaking use it. I am done with the Clintons. I'm done with the cheap shots. I'm done with the innuendos. I'm done with the blaming it on the Des Moines Register. Hillary I do not want you to be the nominee. Biden I do not want you to be the nominee. I'm taking a stand here..."

A producer at Schultz's show told the Huffington Post that Clinton has gone on the program only a few times in the past year, compared to more than half a dozen appearances by Sens. John Edwards, D-NC, and Barack Obama, D-IL. Both Schultz and his team have, he said, worked tirelessly to book the New Yorker. Usually they are offered either thinly veiled excuses or promises that an interview could happen down the road.

"She is," the producer said, "the most difficult person to deal with in progressive talk radio."

3. Taking a page out of O'Reilly's book. "Come on my show, or you're a coward."
Standard stuff.

13. Not quite the same.
She's not a coward for refusing to answer his questions; she's a coward because she is afraid that being on his show will scare away the right that she is pandering to, and she doesn't give a crap about losing the progressives - she thinks we have nowhere else to go, and takes us for granted. That's why she'll never get MY vote.

19. Although I was not calling her a coward, I totally understand your view.
However, considering the past 7 years, I will vote only for a Democrat for president in 2008.

4. How many times has this BS been posted. Ed has had it out for
Clinton for months now...every chance he gets he puts her down.

He was attacking her because she was not giving media interviews. When a reporter told him that usually the front runners do not give interviews--that would be a campaign mistake--he did not let the facts get in the way of his distorted attack.

Ed is not progressive or liberal.

I am done with Ed.

5. Mike Malloy also slams Hillary a lot
I agree with a lot of his criticisms, and I don't really mind him doing it now, although there are criticisms of other candidates he could be making as well. However I won't put up with it anymore if she becomes the nominee. If he's saying anything to discourage people from voting for her in the general, I'll stop listening to his show. Once she's safely elected, he'll be free to rag on her again as he sees fit.

20. Malloy is an equal opportunity ranter
He has no problem calling out Democrats when they get it wrong. But it rarely approaches the level of wrath he has for the Bush Crime Family.

As for Schultz, he's not among my favorites in talk radio, but he has improved in recent months, and not just because of his refusal to kiss the almighty Hillary's ass. Schultz gave Dennis Kucinich an entire three hour show, and he earned some respect from me for that. He offered the same deal to all of the other candidates, Hillary included, and they all passed on it, though most of the others have called into his show. Hillary wants to snub talk radio for some reason. After doing so, should she be surprised if they don't bow down and worship her?

21. He's a little harder on Hillary
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 01:50 PM by VarnettaTuckpocket
And everything he says about her, I think he could also say about Obama. But really my only objection will be if Malloy keeps it up during the general. Hillary isn't very progressive, but if she's our nominee, we should all get behind her because the alternative is so much worse.

Schultz is a tiresome windbag.

11. Ed's not a progressive, top or otherwise
He is a top grade flip flopper who pretends to care about Democratic values.

He's just having a hissy fit because she won't came on to his show. Has nothing to with issues.

18. Ed, by your own admission, she's already appeared on your show a few times.
How often are Hillary and Biden supposed to show up? Is there a criteria here or they are supposed to be at your beck and call? This is the problem with pundits and journalists, it's not about offering an unbiased report of events and informing the public. It's all about them and their oversized egos, and pity the poor soul that dares to antagonize the mighty pundits. The list of these idiots is too long but let's start with the disgusting Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Tweety Matthews, Chis Wallace, etc.

23. Funny how Hillary has no problem showing up on Joe Scarborough's show and Fox News....
It's only progressive talk shows she doesn't want to be on... she's obviously afraid of Ed Schultz asking some tough questions, since
he's been critical of her negative campaigning and Bill's lying about his opposition to the Iraq war "from the beginning".

24. Chris Matthews (I know, I know) once said that Hillary...
...only agrees to do shows where she has control over the questions ~ her people set down specific parameters. Wouldn't be surprised; she runs a tight ship (except for one loose cannon).
