PRO-CLINTON GROUP DISGUISING ITS ATTACK?

PRO-CLINTON GROUP DISGUISING ITS ATTACK?

From NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann

Some of the first negative mail in Iowa on the Democratic side is out, and it's anti-Obama. A new direct mail piece from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) accuses that: "For those without insurance, Barack Obama's band-aid solution is no change at all."

On the reverse side, the text of the mailer continues, arguing that Obama "claims his health care plan covers everyone, but his proposal does not match his words... Instead, Obama took the timid way out, offering yet another band-aid solution."

"Barack Obama's plan," it concludes, is just more of the same."

Here's the kicker, though: The piece quotes Edwards from a Sioux City Journal article in November saying that that "as many as 15 million Americans would be without coverage" under Obama's plan.

But, as it turns out, AFSCME is backing Clinton. In fact, even though Clinton and her campaign have been arguing for the past month that Obama's health-care plan doesn't insure everyone, Clinton's name isn't mentioned once on the flier. The Edwards quote makes it appear to be a slam by the Edwards team.

This tactic, it seems, could be intended to deflect the distaste that most voters have for direct attacks -- even those that are policy based. But those in the know might think that this new negative mail is Iowa Nice playing a little dirty.

1. So, it is a flyer about a valid issue in the campaign, and it addresses
a comment made by Edwards, and that is a bad thing, because?

Dang, what a baby Obama is.

2. Yeah...
...now if the flyer had said, "John Edwards, who diddles around with his campaign staff and impregnates them said that 15 million..."

THEN you got a case.

17. when you have nothing else,
resort to the condescending, short "quip".

Remember, we're not supposed to bring up valid questions about either Obama's or Edwards' policy positions, their shortcomings and obvious oversights and flaws. It's considered "desperation" to do so. That tactic is only considered "brilliant politics" and "common sense" when it's done against Hillary.

(DU Rule Book, page 47, Section B, subsection C-1, paragraphs 1-3)

for those overly-sensitive types who feel angry and tired because they're the "most scrutinized", I'll add one of these :sarcasm:

23. Oh right --
it's unfair to poor Obama, to point out that his health care plan won't help poor people. It's unfair to say anything negative but true about his policies.

Obama has claimed that his policy covers all Americans. He was lying.

His policies are the worst on our side. Kucinich is the most progressive, followed by Edwards. Obama is the most right-wing. He eagerly announces that insurance companies will be allowed to participate in and lobby for health policies -- and you Obama supporters, with your ivory tower and your parents paying your tuition and your insurance, have never talked to a poor person in your lives, so you swallow it all down.

I'm sure there will be plenty of Hillborgs willing to stick up for her
on this. They'd stick up for her if she said she wanted to invade Michigan.

Hillary is attacking Obama--and making it appear as if Edwards is attacking Obama.

AFSCME endorsed Clinton. I'm in Iowa and I rec'd another "flyer" from them that
praised Hillary. That's fine. Candidates get endorsements.

What's not fine is that Hillary is using surrogates to engage in activities that
she knows will directly hurt Obama AND Edwards.

The well-known mantra here in Iowa is that we hate it when candidates fight. It's
true. We just want to hear your plans. It's ok to compare and contrast, but sandbox
fights are as welcome as nuclear waste in our backyards. So, she's going to create
a false cat fight between the two frontrunners who are kicking her polyester-clad ASS!

What a scurrilous, underhanded dog she is!

Get ready New Hampshire, because the attack-mongering, out-of-touch, unable-to-connect
Hillary train is coming to a neighborhood near you! You'll get what we're getting now--her
new-and-improved, reinvigorated "I swear to God I'm a human being!" tour across the cornfields.

After months of campaigning here, she ran some polls and discovered that people don't
like her. So now, we get this endless eyelash-batting and perky talk. It's like
she's running for Prom Queen!

It's just awful. You have no idea.

Please. Someone. Save us from the bad lady.

26. I heard Hillary using the term "band-aid" in describing Obama's health-care plan...
I don't remember if she used his name when saying that or if she just said "my opponent's plan..." but the "band-aid" reference should give it away that it was from Clinton's camp.
