Huckabee denies son mistreated dog
Hmmm, why does this 'truth' ring hollow?

Huckabee denies son mistreated dog

Huckabee spoke on CNN's Larry King Live Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Republican Mike Huckabee sharply denied reports Monday he used his influence as Arkansas governor to scuttle a police investigation into allegations his son tortured a dog while a counselor at a boy scout camp.

"Let me categorically say that is absolutely not true," the presidential candidate said on CNN's Larry King Live. "I never used my influence. In fact, if anything, I said treat it like you would anything else. I don't want special treatment for him or against him."

Huckabee was responding to a report in the current issue of Newsweek, in which former Arkansas State Police Director John Bailey says he was fired by Huckabee in part because he wanted to investigate an allegation that the then-governor's son David tortured and hung a stray dog.

The incident allegedly occurred at a Boy Scout camp in 1998. David Huckabee, then a counselor there, was later expelled for not being "consistent with the Boy Scout mission" of being "kind," according to a letter from the camp's director obtained by the magazine. Shortly after the younger Huckabee was expelled, allegations surfaced that he was involved in the cruel treatment of the dog.

"There was a dog that came in. It was mangy. It looked like it was going to attack," Mike Huckabee said Monday on CNN's Larry King Live. "He was a staffer at the camp. They put the dog down. They didn't do a good job of talking to the leaders. The way it was handled was not ideal, but there was no criminal activity."

The Arkansas Republican also noted his son went on to become an Eagle Scout, and suggested Bailey had an "an axe to grind" because he had been fired.

4. So...wait, let me get this straight--on one hand, Huckabee claims
his son "put the dog down" but his only problem was failing to report this to camp leaders, and at the same time, Hucky claims that there was no criminal activity--how would he know this without a police investigation? Since when is it OK for someone to kill a stray dog? This story REEKS, and he's lying and spinning just like he did about the Dumond case. This guy is BAD NEWS.

18. It was an accident, right?

Mike Mathews: Look Joe, it just happened.
Joe Hallenbeck: Sure, sure, it just happened. Could happen to anybody. It was an accident, right? You tripped, fell on the floor and accidently stuck your dick into my wife. "Oops, I'm sorry, Mrs. H, I guess this just isn't my week".

6. Is he also denying that his son tried to board an airplane with a loaded gun?
Because that just might piss off the Transportation Authority.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — David Huckabee, a son of Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, was arrested at Little Rock's airport Thursday after a federal X-ray technician detected a loaded Glock pistol in his carry-on luggage.

"I removed the bag and asked Mr. Huckabee if he knew what he had in the bag," Little Rock police officer Arthur Nugent wrote in a report after being summoned to a security checkpoint. "He replied he did now."

Huckabee, 26, later pleaded guilty in Little Rock District Court after being charged with possessing a weapon in a prohibited place. District Judge Lee Munson gave Huckabee a one-year suspended jail sentence and ordered him into 10 days of community service — which Huckabee can avoid by paying $100. Huckabee will be on probation for a year. Fines and costs totaled $605.

And yes, it was loaded and in his carry on.

8. "mangy" and "looked like it was going to attack"
Let's talk about reality for just a moment.

First of all demodex (mange) is easily treated. Now, unless he's a vet taking scrapings with a 'scope, he wouldn't know if it was sarcoptic or otherwise. So that point is a failure.

Secondly, a dog that looks like it's going to attack, isn't going to have the likes of that meatball with any possibility of getting said dog into a position to be hung. When a dog looks like it's going to attack, people back away. They sure as hell don't put their hands on them. Point failure number two.

The AVMA has never advocated hanging as a form of euthanasia. So the dog wasn't "put down". We don't hang people here anymore, as it's cruel and unusual punishment. This kid is an animal torturer, deserving of jail time and a good punch in the throat from his cellmate. Point failure number three.

15. point failure number four
You advocate torturing someone in prison (punch in the throat) for torturing. *sigh* You had me until you said that. *sigh again*

17. Another Arkansas governor acted differently
He reportedly let the state police arrest his brother on a drug charge, just as they would do for anyone else, without any interference. (Of course he pardoned the brother later when he was president, which is okay with me because by that time the brother had served a year in prison, and if you can't do this for your own brother, what good is it to be president?)

20. How did this clown get a job as a Counselor?
Edited on Tue Dec-18-07 05:26 PM by rasputin1952
Eagle Scout is nothing to sneeze at, it takes a bit to get up there, but there are "moral" obligations to becoming an Eagle Scout as well. I can't picture Gerry Ford dealing with this situation in a like manner...:(

In any case, he was dismissed, which shows that some action was taken and there must be some truth to the allegation, (there could be other circumstances that led to his termination as well).

All this pinhead had to do was tell officials what happened, and for him to grapple with a dog, that "looked like it was going to attack", leaves quite a bit of room for wondering just what might be inside his head other than a brain.

This is not someone I would entrust the safety of my kids with.

I am no great fan of the police, but I know that State Patrol members are generally about as professional as a cop can be. To make it to police director, while a political position, one can't be a slouch. He'd damn near have to kill someone to get canned.

Unless Huckster can come up with a better story than this, I'd say his son was one sick individual.
