My gut is telling me Hillary is now the longshot Edwards used to be for the nomination.
I think it's going to be either Obama or Edwards. I think the most likely scenario in Iowa is Hillary placing third...although Richardson and Biden still have a longshot.

I strongly prefer Obama, but still would prefer Edwards to Clinton. I do believe Obama's personal qualities and policy positions will ultimately win him the nomination. But the dynamic has changed. I think it's going to be a race between Obama and Edwards, with perhaps Biden or Richardson surging up from the second tier.

This may sound radical, but I think Clinton's nearly out of the picture...just my opinion, but I do think I'm right. ;-)

Perhaps I will elaborate more in a later post....

1. Don't discount Hillary's massive national lead. I agree that Hillary could finish 3rd in Iowa, but
she's still the favorite nationally.

She can lose a couple races and still bounce back.

3. It is possible
but not likely, in my view.

I give her a 10% chance at the nomination at this point.

4. There's no national primary.
Edited on Tue Dec-18-07 02:30 AM by Radical Activist
National polls are completely meaningless. When Hillary loses Iowa and South Carolina then people will stop responding to polls based on name recognition and who they think will win.

2. I considred this an Edwards / Obama race from the beginning.
People in most of the country just don't like Hillary. I never thought for a minute that Iowa or South Carolina would vote for her.

16. Yes. Because the corporate media WANTS her to be the candidate.
It's all a devious plot.

6. It is premature
to count HRC out. I myself would prefer Edwards to Obama. But I strongly prefer Obama to HRC.

7. If Hillary makes some adjustments, she can still win.
What she needs to do is get down to nuts and bolts, she needs to be Rosy riveter and show us the bluprints so to speak...The problem is that so much of what she does is "Ad Hominiem" campaining. "the Hillary I know" and so forth, these ads that are supposed to convince us that she "knows" regular people like us. This is the stuff that would easily fly during the sleepy Clinton I years, but will never fly now. The American people are alert, anxious, and paying very close attention these days. She needs to acknowledge the serious issues we face, and start being really upfront about her plans to avert/face these crisises. If she shows us that she is for real and not part of some bush-clinton conspiracy, she can win off of being a safe bet in a time of impending crisis.

9. Two weeks is still an eternity in politics and I'm not hedging my bets at all
As far as I'm concerned this anybody's game. I'm crossing my fingers for Obama to make a strong showing in the early states and if he does I'll be volunteering in my state.

You should probably wait and see but I have a 'gut' feeling you're way off.

Edited on Tue Dec-18-07 03:09 AM by Beacool
You must have been drinking too much of the Obama Kool Aid!!!! For the record, I think that she won't win IA, I never thought that she would. On the other hand, I have no doubt that when the dust settles she'll be our nominee.

13. Your gut may be right- I think it is in Iowa but
this is a different primary schedule, and it favors Clinton and Obama. Super Tuesday comes less than a month after NH. And that's what both are depending on. Edwards doesn't have organization or money in those states. He could conceivably pull it off, but I doubt it. I think Obama has an excellent chance at becoming the nominee.

19. One hand washes the other...
...Poppy Bush helps President Hillary

...Big Dog returns the favor and helps President Jeb.

It's a "win-win" scenario. Anyone think that Poppy hasn't shared his desire to see Jeb as president one day with Bill?
