Periodic Lou Dobbs update: He now favors first-degree murder

For some reason there is some support of Lou Dobbs on DU, taking the enemy of my enemy concept to a new high.

I hope any arguments can now be put to rest as to whether Dobbs is primarily a) a selfless supporter of average Americans, or b) just an over-the-top racist.

I had the misfortune to see him do a story on the guy in Texas who shot the two burglars next door. After a story that included the datum that both men were shot in the back, and that both were probably illegal aliens, Dobbs found the second datum much more interesting. He said it was an outrage that people were upset about the shooter, who was just doing what we all have to do because of lax border security.

This is now Lou's second crusade for someone who shot a Mexican criminal in the back. His whole damn show is about the real heroes, who seem to be whoever shoots some Mexican guy in the back. If anyone ever shoots a Mexican in the front I guess he'll get a ticker-tape parade.

1. That's such bullshit...

that guy needs to be prosecuted,. The cop on the phone with him told him not to shoot, and he did anyway. He was in no danger, and he is the one that went after them. Texas has some fucked up laws though, and the guy will probably walk.

There was an undercover cop ON THE SCENE who recorded it. It's a miracle the cop didn't get shot.

...was calling out Dobbs as a racist scumbag, and I got roasted alive by DUers telling me he was the working man's hero.

He seems to have a lot of people fooled, many of whom should know better.

Anybody could have predicted these sorts of shootings were going to happen. There are people right here at DU who believe it's their responsibility to stop crime, that cops are just there to investigate after the crimes are over.

...but then the man just got crazy over illegal aliens. The way he says "illegal aliens" gives me the impression that they have green skin and antennae, and that the Mother Ship is just over the border dropping them off so they can swarm us.

It is the height of irresponsibility. Lou Dobbs is going to get someone killed - if he hasn't already. He is the epitome of a demagogue, whipping up xenophobia and racial hatred. But for CNN to provide him a platform to engage in this hatred is beyond reason.
