Kucinich heads to isles as Inouye supports Kerry

Presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry got a boost from Hawaii's senior senator yesterday and opponent Rep. Dennis Kucinich planned to be in Hawaii today as local Democrats prepared to choose which candidate they will support to oppose President Bush in November.

U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye reaffirmed his support for fellow senator John Kerry yesterday at a press conference at the Korean and Vietnam Veterans War Memorial at the state Capitol.

"He and I are veterans. He and I saw combat. He and I got purple hearts," Inouye said.

I didn't even know that he was coming. I saw him when he came last year though

There were, and still are, a lot of Dean supporters here. Rep. Ambercrombie and fmr. Gov. Cayetano were both of Dean's prominent supporters. I trust that Dean supporters will still vote for Dean. They seem pretty committed.

As for Kerry, he has the service union support and Dem. establishment support. The two US Senators from Hawaii, Akaka and Inoye, both endorsed Kerry.

I haven't seen any Edwards support here. The service unions are big here, not the manufacturing ones. On top of that, both Kerry and Kucinich have better environmental records than Edwards.

This could be a place where Kucinich can pick up some delegates as well.

Good for Dennis...I know he got a great reception there last time.

Have any other candidates gone there??

(kidding...I realize its basically small potatoes as far as delegates/electoral votes) but thats what I like about Dennis...there are still PEOPLE there to connect with!!

GO Dennis!!!

5. LOL
warm tropical breezes...quite a bit of that here. :P

Kerry was supposed to make a trip here during the primaries, but things got busy on the Continental US (Due to Edwards ascension).

However, he did say that he will come if he gets the nomination.

Kerry is also a skilled windsurfer. He would love to come here for a break during the campaign

7. Al Gore and Tipper love it here too. Expect prominent Dems to be here
the third week of July for the NALC convention. (National Association of Letter Carriers). It's the first time the convention will be held in Hawaii. John Edwards was guest speaker at the 2002 convention in Phily and Al Gore addressed NALC members in 2000 at the Chicago convention.

Over 300,000 members strong, the NALC is an AFL-CIO affiliate.

6. I saved the picture of Dennis in leis from his last visit
He's quite natural covered in leis. :)

It's too bad he's not getting endorsements from the land of Aloha, but Dennis just keeps on keeping on, and I gotta admire that.

Wish I could see him there......sigh...
