Poll question: Your 2000 vote vs. your current voting intentions
How are they the same/different?

Note: I am aware that the options are not exhaustive. Partly this is due to the limit of 10, partly it is due to my wish to have you pick "other" and comment (or pick anything and comment), and partly, I have chosen the options I think will cover most but not all people here.

4. Ditto
But there is no guarantee the Dems can get my vote in '08. This is a one time deal. (Unless they pass major election reform, at which point they can be my number two vote.)

2. I voted for Nader in 2000, but not this time.
I want my vote to count for something this time around. Nader's causes are noble, but his strategy through a Presidential campaign is inept. The Democrats have their problems, but there is a larger problem to worry about first.

6. ABBXN
I will hold my nose if I must, no way in hell I could EVER vote for RN, but I will vote for the Chimp's opponent, be it Quasimodo or Torquemada. ABB but not Nader.

7. just show me the yellow dog ...
A former grad student of mine (tenured and department head now -- damn that makes you feel old) who voted for Nader says he feels the Nader candidacy did its work -- this year there is a real difference between the Dems and Repubs and he will vote Dem.

Please, please, I do not endorse his views now any more than I did when he was a student. Just report 'em.

8. ABB promotion
To all who have not committed to vote for the Dem candidate: Remember that with the person elected President come more Congress people, provided that he has coattails. Also, even worse, he will choose some Supreme Court Justices who will outlive some of us, as they get to serve FOREVER!

A vote for Ralph Nader or Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse just may help Bush & Co. complete the destruction of the Constitution and ruination of our economy. Roe v. Wade will be history. There will be 10 Commandment sculptures in every Courthouse and King James Bibles in every classroom.

Just some food for thought!

9. Unless they do away
with the electoral college, my vote will not make a difference here in the Tarheel state...unless something very unexpected happens.
Nevertheless, I plan to vote Dem this time.

14. I am an "other"
Voted for Gore in 2000 even though I wasn't passionate about him and would have rather voted "for" Nader.

Am unsure how I will vote this time around. I held my nose once and am not too happy about having to do it again, so I am leaning Nader as of this moment but would Love to vote for the Democratic nominee if he shows me in the end that he cares more about principle then winning conservative votes (ie: if he gets off the fence about a number of things, including gay marriage).

15. Ineligible to vote in 2000, will vote for nominee
probably would've voted for Nader in 2000, but I lived in North Dakota. Had I lived elsewhere I probably would've voted for Gore.

18. I swore I'd vote Green this time, but....
I voted for Gore in 2000. I swore I'd use my vote to help build a viable alternative party this time.

Now........I'm wondering if a Kerry DLC administration wouldn't be the best advertisement for the Green Party.

Think about it:

President Kerry orders military conscription....hundreds of thousands join the Green Party.

Hundreds of thousands of jobs go to India and China; President Kerry does nothing.....hundreds of thousands of people join the Green Party.

Our health care system continues to implode; President Kerry does nothing.....millions get fed up with the corporate duopoly and join the Green Party.

More mad cow, more bird flu, more cancer; President Kerry does nothing.....more members for the Green Party.

John Kerry could be the best thing that ever happened for the Green Party. I might just vote for him next November and join the Green Party the very next day.

We have the opportunity in this election to choose our adversary for the next four years....which adversary will be most beneficial to our cause?

************

"Rotten Baloney Sandwich" for President '04.....Progressive for President '08.
