Dana Milbank: Obama sounded "a bit green" when he said "I will finish the fight against Al Qaeda"
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 03:35 PM by antiimperialist
Continuing his series of reports on presidential candidates, Dana Milbank from the Washington Post thinks Obama has done nearly nothing on health care, his achievements overall are thin and irrealistically vowed to put an end to fighting with Al Qaeda.

"I expanded health care in Illinois by bringing Democrats and Republicans together, by taking on the insurance industry," he asserts. Actually, his signature legislation as a state senator, the Health Care Justice Act, merely set up a panel to craft a plan.

Obama also sounds a bit green when he vows that "I will finish the fight against al-Qaeda" -- a battle nobody expects will wrap up in the next four years.

On the other hand, the achievements Obama has to tout are thin. "I've done more than any candidate in this race to actually take on lobbyists, and I've won," he boasts. Well, yes, he championed ethics reforms in the Senate but left much of the heavy lifting to others while he campaigned.

1. Because Bush has done such a good job with Al Queda? Good grief, this is a bit desperate,
even for Milbanks.

2. Well, the point is the fight against al-queda will probably never be
"finished." There have been so-called terrorists and terrorist attacks throughout history, so we should stop thinking that this is something new.

Now, if Obama had said he would START the fight against al-queda, he'd be spot on, because Bush hasnot fought them at all.

4. Milbank leaves out all of the reform work Obama did in the IL senate
but that's not Washington, so, too bad, and, what-everrrr.

5. Well Milbank is out and out lying
Because off the top of my head I know he passed an expansion on children's health care and a system to grade Illinois medical facilities. He's always been a DLC tool and it's a damn shame people can't see through some of this shit.

7. Fairly or unfairly, if Obama happens to be Democratic Candidate
these type charges will be leveled against him 24/7.

There will be ads on TV, whispering campaigns, flyers
You name it focusing on his youth and lack of experience.

This is a given.
