Writers Guild Files Labor Complaint
By LYNN ELBER – 7 hours ago

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An unfair labor practices complaint filed against Hollywood studios is a bid to force them back to the negotiating table with striking writers, guild leaders said.

But a studio alliance responded with disdain to the claim it illegally broke off talks, as alleged in Thursday's filing by the Writers Guild of America with the National Labor Relations Board.

The "baseless, desperate NLRB complaint is just the latest indication that the WGA's negotiating strategy has achieved nothing for working writers," the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers said in a statement.

These are not rich people, pulling up the the picket line in BMW's, most of these writers are solid middle class citizens, and they are fighting for what's right.

2. The statement by the studio is damaging
It makes them look insensitive and arrogant. They must not be getting bad legal advice. As soon as an ULP complaint is filed, you shut your mouth and argue it on paper and not in the press. The union will make sure this gets on the record, and most of the time, public statements will be used against you by the NLRB hearing officer.

3. I hope they are able to resolve this equitably for the union.
Though I can say I have been unaffected by this, so it has not really resonated with me.
