I can't believe how well Hillary is doing at this point. Her impending victory looks inevitable. In a way, I wish that someone from our side could give her a little more competition just to heep her tuned up for the general election.

If anyone had said a couple years ago how Hillary Clinton would be so competitive at this point in the Primaries, let alone still leading everyone else nationally, they would've been told they were nuts!

Huge leads are meant to break down and dwindle. Hillary is right where she wants to be now. She knew that with such a commanding lead as she had a few months ago that they'd be coming after her from all angles, ganging up and tearing her to shreds to put her behind in the race. They've thrown everything possible at her, and looky looky, she's STILL the one to beat. She also knows that it's better for her to have a narrow lead than a huge lead. That way she's got plenty of room to improve over the course of the Primaries, and it keeps her sharp for when the General Election comes around.

I can't believe she's still in this strong a position to put this thing away. If the best that Obama and Edwards can do is only narrow the gap, then I hate to tell those guys but their best just aint good enough to compete with the likes of Senator Clinton. Even if Hillary was in 3rd place, nationally speaking, which she isn't, she'd still come from behind to win, that's just how competitive this lady is.

Now, I'm not saying that the other candidates' supporters should entirely give up or anything, I'm still pulling for Kucinich myself, but I wouldn't go planning any celebrations unless your favorite candidate just happens to be the Goddess of Peace.

I agree for the most part about what you have said in your OP, but if Clinton wins the Dem nomination, she still has to get through the general election to be elected President. The primary race and the GE are totally different animals, and although she's the person to beat in the primaries, the GE won't be a cake walk for her (or any other Dem candidate, for that matter).

We should not delude ourselves to thinking that just because one candidate is in the lead in the polls for the primaries of one political party, that this person will automatically be elected President eleven months from now. Much can happen between now and then. Let's not get complacent and cocky. NGU.
