Romney's conciliatory religious message was a flop
Told you so. That speech he gave last week pretty much sunk his candidacy. It was an insult to the intelligence of the fundies. He didn't address their concerns at all. Not one bit. I don't know who he was targeting in the speech. But his advisors should be fired.

Here are the new poll numbers from Fundieville:

1. But Tweety and the rest of the MSM syncophants did their best
to promote the speech by comparing it to JFK's speech, they made me sick. I thought the speech was pretty darn scary, saying that if you weren't a christian there wasn't a place for you in the U.S. I will be relieved if Willard is defeated.

2. Except for the "freedom requires religion" atheist-bashing part, I thought

it was actually a pretty good speech, though not as great as Tweety thought it was. Fundies aren't going to like him no matter what, because they're religious zealots who look down on everyone who isn't "saved" and specially anointed by Jayzus, as they believe themselves to be. It's just as well--Mittens needs to be disposed of somehow, might as well let the GOPers do it for us.

3. There's another reason for evangelical distain
The Mormon's are competing on the ground with Southern Baptists for converts. Hard to get over that one.

5. Yep, that's true too. Huckabee went to speak in Salt Lake City for some Baptist Convention
a ways back, from what I read, and there was anti-Mormon literature being given out, along with copies of the books he had written. Can't let the "cult" get too powerful.

4. Not according to tweety
who gushed "I heard greatness in that speech". Could anybody be more out of touch with the "heartland amurkins" he professes to understand than that drooling idiot?

6. Romney's a wimp
He had a wonderful opportunity to talk about prejudice in America, but of course to do that, he'd have to ignore the fact that when others were struggling to make the Mormon church accept blacks as equals in the 1970s Romney did nothing or the fact that he's homophobic. He's a weak and ambitious man. He's rather pathetic.

7. He was warned......
There was no way the fundie nuts were ever going to vote for him. All he did was piss off the semi-sane Rethugs (you can't be completely sane and be a Rethug, BTW). He's an empty suit and people are finally starting to figure it out.
