The difference between Bill and Hillary....
Bill Clinton is a master of how to stab someone in the back and have them smile and say "Thank You". It's the iron hand in the velvet glove, the attack against an opponent that comes out of the blue and leaves no traces, leaves the victim with a graceful way out and most importantly does not blow up in your own face.

Hillary Clinton, despite years of working with and learning from the master has not learned the importance of subtlety. To have a high level official in your own campaign lob unsubstantiated charges about an opponent did when he was a teenager is clumsy politics that's going to hurt you more than it's going to damage the other guy.

Bill must be mad enough to bite through a chair leg right now.

3. Here's an example
Back when Bill was first running for President he'd put away several opponents including Paul Tsongas. The last man standing was former California Governor Jerry Brown. The New York Primary was the deciding race. It was down to the wire with lots of nasty back and forth including a whispering campeign regarding Browns sexual orientation. Brown lost, due in part to his embrace of Gore Vidal and Al Sharpton which outraged pro-Israeli voters.

A couple of days after the primary, a report aired on ABC in which some former state troopers alleged that Brown had tolerated drug use among h is rock star pals including former girl friend Linda Ronstadt. Brown vehemently denied the charges, and was pretty much exonerated in the media, but it was enough to throw him off track and he lost the next series of races and was effectively done for.

People in the Brown campaign believed that this was Clinton's insurance policy in case he lost New York. The book "Primary Colors", fiction, of course was based on this.

4. Hmm.. Brown "believed" this? Nice evidence...
...anda s for Primary Colors, it was TOTAL fiction, written by Joe "I'm a lazy liar" Klein.

Good freaking lord.

7. O.K. what about Bill Clinton working behind the scenes to undermind Dean in Iowa?
Dean, in his memoir, said that Bill Clinton decided that having the poster boy for Civil Unions as the democratic party nominee would not be a good thing and called influential Democrats in Iowa to convince them to not support Dean.

I'm not saying that this is a good thing or a bad thing, I am saying that Bill handles this sort of thing one way and Hillary handles it another. I prefer Bill's way.

2. Apparently

Obama has Bill's skills too, with his one-liner directed at Hillary that summed up why he's about change and she isn't.

It should be pointed out that should Hillary win the nomination--which I think is unlikely--that she faces major problems with the party's base. The anti-war people are upset with her, and may go to Nader. Her campaign has now alienated African American voters, and they may stay home. And now she's also upset liberals who are also disgusted by her campaign's tactics. I don't see how she can wn with a shattered coalition like that...

5. Obama has great political skills, my main problem with him is lack of experience.
If you could combine Obama's raw political skills with Richardson's experience we'd have one hell of candidate.

6. Or perhaps one hell of a ticket
I support Richardson too. I just can't stand Clinton's awful campaign.

8. Did you know that Clinton's was the cleanest two-term administration since Teddy Roosevelt?
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 07:55 AM by Perry Logan
As measured by the total number of convictions and forced resignations in his administration, Bill Clinton's was the cleanest administration of the 20th century. By the same measure, Reagan's was the most corrupt administration in American history.

9. i disagree
Clinton was always playing defense, always taking attacks from his opponents. and he knew when to pounce when his opponents went too far in their attacks and used the momentum of their attacks to defeat them - kinda like judo.

Hillary is facing a candidate who doesn't hit the same way that Bill's opponents did. Thus she doesn't know how to respond, and neither does Bill - he never faced an opponent like Obama either. So his advice is useless to her.

She's really in a bind here. Attacking Obama won't work, and waiting for him to go too far with his attacks won't work either, because he probably won't be too aggressive in his attacks.

She has to find another way, and fast.

10. Bill is a very adept philanderer and seducer
that's why he can knife someone in the back and have them enjoy it. Hillary is not.
