Give this one to Joe Biden
You can award Thursday’s debate among the Democratic presidential candidates to the second-tier candidates, especially Joe Biden.

Biden, Chris Dodd and Bill Richardson turned in some of their best debate performances of the 2008 campaign and were the day’s biggest gainers. Biden’s showing was the best of the day.

snip

As for Biden, how can you lose when everybody else on the stage is praising your record on civil rights, literally applauds you, and the front-runner offers testimony on your behalf? You can’t. And unlike some of his past debate performances in which he seemed strident or comical, Biden was cool, commanding and presidential in this one.

He is without reservation, my first choice.

4. Biden's popularity will rise the more he gets out there.
He has the capacity to come across as a prick on first glance, but when you really get to hear what he is about he's seriously got a lot to offer.

Kerry was there four years back.

13. Exactly!
Iowa doesn't care about "no stinkin' polls" and they don't pay much mind to the MSM.

21. If he has a chance to back away from foreign policy and showcase the rest of his vision, he should
take it. The Joe Biden brand in my name is tied way too much to foreign policy...He needs to share the rest of his domestic vision, which is more where the appeal has been for me.

But that's not what he is to the average person at all.

18. No he isn't
but I'd hate to be Rudy these days. I don't think Rudy will get the nomination because of all the bad press, but damn, I'd love to see Biden take him on in a debate.

20. Thank you very much. I tell my clients, "If you can't laugh with me
when I fuck up your case, you've got no business doing business with me." Actually, I have very little talent for anything. My writers, the Irony sisters, are responsible for all my material.

I also have very little talent for anything, but somehow I feel I must serve some purpose, though I'm still not sure what that is.
