What song comes to your mind when you see your candidate?
I can't stop relating Obama to "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In" by The 5th Dimension. I keep imagining an ad done using that song.

and I'm not a big fan of Sheryl Crow, but it kept playing in my head. Please don't ask me to analyze it.

Title: Sheryl Crow - A Change Would Do You Good lyrics

Ten years living in a paper bag
Feedback baby, he’s a flipped out cat
He’s a platinum canary, drinkin’ falstaff beer
Mercedes rule, and a rented lear
Bottom feeder insincere
Prophet lo-fi pioneer
Sell the house and go to school
Get a young girlfriend, daddy’s jewel

A change would do you good
A change would do you good

God’s little gift is on the rag
Poster girl posing in a fashion mag
Canine, feline, jekyll and hyde
Wear your fake fur on the inside
Queen of south beach, aging blues
Dinner’s at six, wear your cement shoes
I thought you were singing your heart out to me
Your lips were syncing and now I see

A change would do you good
A change would do you good

Chasing dragons with plastic swords
Jack off jimmy, everybody wants more
Scully and angel on the kitchen floor
And I’m calling buddy on the ouija board
I’ve been thinking ’bout catching a train
Leave my phone machine by the radar range
Hello it’s me, I’m not at home
If you’d like to reach me, leave me alone

A change would do you good
A change would do you good
Hello, it’s me, I’m not at home
If you’d like to reach me, leave me alone

A change would do you good
A change would do you good

For me that sums it up.

18. Imagine.
Of course, it was his campaign song in '04. It's still a good fit.

I'm (barely) old enough to remember "Hair," and remember when that was the number one song in 1969. Obama is much too clean-cut for that song, lol.

He might be a better fit with another song I've always liked from that general era: "Jesus is Just Alright With Me."

20. Okay, when I read the title of the thread
the first thing that popped into my head was, and I don't know if it's the song's title or not, but "Happy days are here again". I could hear that playing and see streamers and confetti. Is this something they always play at elections?

24. Not at the Republican ones, that's for sure. It was FDR's unofficial theme song.
It came out around the time of the Great Depression.

22. I was a toddler when FDR was elected,
though I've read reams about it and FDR and World War II, saw newsreels, movies on FDR, the Great Depression, seen FDR's head thrown back, laughing. I've absorbed it as though I lived through it as an adult. So I hear in my mind the theme song that was played so often in the 1930s, "Happy Days Are Here Again." And it always comes back to me when I think of Barack Obama being nominated and winning the election.

lights shining off the wet pavement, kinda slo-mo, and Boys Are Back In Town playing (Hillary could handle it)

or I'm Alright by Kenny Loggins

(I'm listening to Gin 'n Juice right now, but I don't think that'd do it)

31. Workers' Song by Dropkick Murphys
For John Edwards since he is speaking to and for the union men and women and that song is full of both pride in the worker and rage at the system.

That and "Which Side are You On?" Same thing about honoring the laborer but more about who are you going to side with kind of deal.

32. What's that old song ... "Torn between two lovers"

I like both Obama and Edwards equally, have donated to both of them equally, and seriously can't decide which one I'd rather see win.....

I'd also be happy as a clam if Biden or Richardson somehow slipped in.. Hell, Dodd's even okay..

When it comes to Obama and Edwards though.. I can't decide..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H03PyhbRjSY

with the new and improved lyrics:

Dodd's 5'4"
He was in the Peace Corps
He worships a christian god

His eyebrows aren't waxed
They just look like that
It's Dodd! Dodd! Dodd!

It's Dodd, Dodd
He's short, he's stout, he's white
It's Dodd, Dodd
He's better than bad, he's alright

Everyone wants a Dodd

You're gonna love a Dodd

It's Dodd! Dodd! Dodd!

TM: Dodd from Connecticut.

38. Kooch needs something more amped up
Cleveland Rocks, by Ian Hunter. Let that North Coast flag fly!

All this energy calling me
Back where it comes from
It's such a crude attitude
It's back where it belongs
All the little kids growing up on the skids are goin
Cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks
Jumpin gene genies, moody james deanies goin

Cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks
Cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks

Mama knows but she don't care
She's got her worries too
Seven kids and a phony affair
And the rent is due
All the little chicks with the crimson lips go
Cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks
She's livin in sin with a safety pin
She's goin cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks

I got some records from world war two
I'll play em just like me grand dad do
He was a rocker and I am too
Oh cleveland rocks, yeah cleveland rocks
So find a place
Grab a space
And yell and scream for more

Cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks
Cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks, cleveland rocks
