Iowa Campaigns Fall Victim to Storm

IOWA CITY, Iowa - ­ It is looking like a snow day on the campaign trail in Iowa.

Thanks to an overnight ice storm, presidential campaigns are cutting short events all across the state today. The early cancellations are rolling in: John Edwards just canceled the first event on his schedule today, a town hall-style event in Clinton, Iowa. His campaign said his later events are still planned, depending on the weather.

Mike Huckabee, who was planning to campaign in western Iowa today, canceled his stops because he was unable to land at the Des Moines airport.

And the candidates’ spouses were stopped short by the weather, too. Michelle Obama canceled all five of her events, and Bill Clinton did the same for his three stops in eastern Iowa.
