Fort Worth Star-Telegram: "So far in Texas, it's John Edwards or nobody"
So far in Texas, it's John Edwards or nobody:

So far, Texas primary voters will have two choices for president on March 4: John Edwards and none of the above.

The former senator from North Carolina is the only candidate to have filed as a candidate for president in Texas.

It's cool that Edwards filed in Texas at the earliest chance. Edwards will compete in Texas. Hillary won't. This will make a huge difference down ballot in Texas, where we could use that Edwards boost (instead of a Hillary drag).

2. The Texas primary is so far out
That the candidate is pretty much decided by then.

But good for Edwards.

15. Which is exactly why our system is so farked up......
every voter should have a say in who the nominee is...not just a few choses ones.

3. True: Hillary will not compete in Texas
and where Obama is concerned there is this to consider in Texas - to paraphrase Governor William J. Le Petomane: "Have you gone berserk! You can't elect him President! Can't you see that man is a ni..."

4. Actually, I think Obama would do fine in Texas. In 2002, Ron Kirk (who is black) ran for Senate
against Cornyn. The state has undergone a major Democratic shift since then, but even back then, even though Kirk lost he got the 3rd highest vote percent among statewide Democratic candidates.

I think Obama would have coattails in Texas, not quite so much as Edwards and (to a slightly lesser degree than Edwards) Richardson, but real coattails. Down ballot Republicans in Texas would ride Hillary's coattails to victory in close races.

8. We'll just have to kick Cornyn's ass with Noriega (who's a great guy but seems not to be a blazing
fund raiser).
