5. I don't watch Oprah.
But I admire her brains and her success. I think it is great that she has given so much back, too.

Let her endorse whomever she wants.

9. "Let her endorse whomever she wants."
But that would be the logical answer, and we both know this is DU. It's my candidate or no candidate. :P

I don't watch her either, well sometimes I'll tape it if there's going to be a good guest, like Obama (of course). But I also taped it when Bill Clinton was on and John & Elizabeth Edwards.

3. Selling walkmans and criticizing America's youth for wanting one over an education?

6. Word.
The people going apeshit over this are just confirming the Obama campaign's hopes.

People don't do their candidates any favors by hyperventilating (and yes I hyperventilate on occasion too, and it is not productive).

8. Ignoring the rhetorical statement, I'll answer that question.
In November, 1984 Oprah had a very local talk show in Chicago. She was not syndicated. She was not very sophisticated. She was running against Phil Donahue, also from Chicago and she was struggling. Truth told, she really wasn't that good. I watched the show for five days while visiting my cousin in Chicago and couldn't understand why she was on the air.

If you had asked almost anyone outside the Chicago region, not many people would have known who Oprah Winfrey was, and that's using both names.
