I wore my Impeach Cheney hat
to the grocery store tonight, as I normally do, and while getting a carton of milk from the cooler a little old lady saw my hat and said "Nice hat!" I thanked her for her taste in attire and we started to talk. Surprisingly she was pretty well informed about what is happening. She even knew who Dennis Kucinich is. I was pleasantly surprised at that.

As we were talking, I noticed a few more people had started gathering around us. They too started joining the conversation and before long there was about ten of us having a round table type discussion. Most of the people were informed and the rest were soaking up the conversation like sponges.

The conversation lasted about twenty minutes and then everybody went their own way. It left me with a comforting feeling that the people are starting to rouse from their blissful ignorance and are starting to pay attention. I tried to educate as much as I could and I know that what little information I had to give them was appreciated.

THAT is our only hope. We must get the people listening and then talking to each other. All they have to do is get a grasp on how bad the situation is and they then want to help to correct the situation.

It wasn't that long ago that people would just tune you out when they saw something as radical as an Impeach Cheney hat. No more. They are taking notice so please do not give up and keep the information flowing. It is making a difference.

I touted the DU site also. Hope that we get some new members.

1. Yeah
that kind of stuff happens to me quite a bit too. You just gotta start talking about their lies and people will chime in.

Of course, where you live is important. I live in a liberal oasis in a liberal state, so it's not hard to get the entire place agreeing with me.

2. Great! Being liberal means being reasonable. If people are willing to listen ...
to reason they are "liberal".

4. I wear my political shirts on weekends
* my favorite shirt to wear is IMPEACH BUSH and CHENEY http://www.beachblogger.net/store/tee_shirts.html

I always receive "I like your shirt".. I really love to wear it in the Suburban malls.

Usually at least 2-3 times people will mention they like the shirt or where can they get the shirt and I just point to the bottom of the text on the shirt and it says: www.afterdowningstreet.org and that of course gets them to the site that educates them further.

I love it. You never know how many people going by feel inspired by my courage to wear the shirt in public that they feel they can speak out when talking to friends, family, and co-worker.

Since the mainstream media has censored all dissent (expect that of other countries), it is one way to help WAKE UP the public.

Some weekends I just don't have the energy that it takes to wear the t-shirts.. but then I realize I can't stop.. I have to keep the Occupations, the fact we have a criminal in office. etc..

Cause when one person, tells another person, who tells another person,... then maybe we can stop this Insanity

it really makes you question the real polling numbers. Everyone I talk to hates the GOP, and everything they stand for, and everything they do. They 'get it'.

3. It seems like everyone just needs the kick...

I think if you stood up in a movie theater and held 'Impeach Bush and Cheney' there would be
a moment of silence and then a standing ovation.

So I guess we just need to get out there with our voices, signs and stuff.

9. I have seven bumper stickers
on the tail gate of my truck that catch a lot of attention. I have even had people leave notes on my windshield praising the stickers.

3. If people can make you believe absurdities, they can make you commit atrocities -- Voltaire
4. I like your Christ -- I do not like your Christians -- They are so unlike your Christ -- Ghandi
5. How about sending these war criminals to Guantanamo? (Pictures of Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld)

7. Nice story. It reminds me of an old Frank Capra movie.
Maybe, just maybe, we can work our way back to the idealism of the New Deal.

13. What do you mean by "what is happening"
"Surprisingly she was pretty well informed about what is happening."

You mean the Kucinich thing and it went back to committee? Has anything happened since then? Did I miss something? Last I heard, the good news was it didn't die on the floor, but the fact that it was sent back to committee isn't that encouraging either. Now if the committee agrees to have hearings, that would be something to talk about. :)

16. Me getting you to kick the thread again.
I think the OP meant "what is happening" in terms of the general state of affairs in the nation.

There is some news, though. A new co-sponsor: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=2426030&mesg_id=2426030

20. Americans are STARVED for information.
You should talk, out in public, where people can hear you.... a lot! And if you're alone, use your phone. You'd be surprised how many people around you are interested, but just don't know where to get the information that you have...

my feelings on a tee shirt at work but I've been asked to cease and desist because there are still some lingering koolaiders and people who don't like to admit they were EVER wrong in their life.

So I just wear my peace symbol and still get to have lots of conversations with people who are totally disgusted with the bushits and the m$$$$$$$$$m.

I know that must have been a super good feeling for you!
