What Will Greens do Now That Nader is Indie?
It amazes me how Green Party members could be so enamored of a man that shows indifference to them.

He would not become a member of the party, himself. How arrogant is that?

And now he has announced his run as an Independent, eschewing Greens altogether.

Will there now be a push for LaDuke?

2. LaDuke is fully behind Kucinich
she doesn't plan a run of any kind.

This seems an ironic statement:

It amazes me how Green Party members could be so enamored of a man that shows indifference to them.

So many Dems do and have done the same for years now.

I have never been a Green and I don't back Nader. But after November, I will not be a Dem any longer either.

5. Nothing at all ironic about it .

I should have spelled it out, I guess. At least the dems running are dems. Nader thought so little of the people who propelled him into prominence, he wouldn't officially be affiliated with them.

9. Like many of us realize,
many of the Dems who have run are Dems in name only. I think the decision to run independent was because of the deep division in the Green Party about running someone at all.

Nader wouldn't have run if there had been more support from the party for Kucinich. But the party has long since abandoned its progressive underpinnings. That's the bottom line.

12. So then it is all Kucinich's fault for running a bad campaign?

3. Is there an official Green Party site or number?
If so, why don't you ask them? Why settle for second, third or fourth hand information, rumors, and Green party haters for your information?

Go to the source.

11. Nader didn't renounce the Greens, they renounced him.
Edited on Sun Feb-22-04 01:48 PM by LandOLincoln
They wouldn't touch him this time around, so he had to go Independent.

As a former Green, I must say I wish the Green leadership would publicly distance themselves from Nader before he does them any more damage.

I'm now convinced his intent was to demolish the Greens as much as the Democrats. At the very least he used them shamefully.

I'll further speculate that Nader's running now because he's afraid a Democratic administration would take a long, hard look at his business dealings and, finding questionable or downright illegal activities, would then prosecute him to the extent of the law. I think Ralphie's running now purely as a last ditch effort to save his own sorry ass.

(edited for clarity)

13. Can we lay off the Greens as a whole?
In this election the Greens took a long hard look at how they would respond to the general. In Minnesota, THEY decided NOT to back their own candidate in order to lay off of Wellstone, although the candidate himself proceeded in spite of the party wishes.

Ralph not running on their ticket is THEIR wish.

Most Greens I know are reolved to vote for the Democratic candidate this year.

the Green leadership. I AM interested in what Green voters will do. That is why I posted.

17. Still ABB voting for Dem
Edited on Sun Feb-22-04 08:12 PM by GreenPartyVoter
Am hoping for the best case scenario, that the Greens get enough votes to keep the party alive, but not so many it keeps the Dem from winning.

And to Kerry and Edwards. This is it. This is your chacne to get my vote. If you want it again in '08 you better give this nation the election reform it so desperately needs, or I am going back to third party voting for prez until you finally wake up already!
