Dana, Dana, Dana...what a Freudian slip!
"I can see where you could see that the President could have been more precise in that language, but the President was being truthful."
from Dana Perino at the press conference on Thursday.

"A verbal or written flub-up in which one says what one really meant, rather than what one meant to say, by accidentally adding or subtracting a word or substituting a similar word that means something that indicates what one really thinks. The phenomenon is named after Sigmund Freud, who first described it." from the Urban Dictionary

"Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind."
from Politics and the English Language by George Orwell

5. You're right.
She basically said, the president lies to you all the time. What do you want me to do about it?

from AlterNet's PEEK:

Bush White House Tries to Redefine "Truthful"

Posted by Steve Benen, The Carpetbagger Report at 1:00 PM on December 6, 2007.

Steve Benen: By Ken Starr's '98 standards, if a president is caught lying in response to a reporter's question. That's impeachable. Just sayin'.

This post, written by Steve Benen, originally appeared on The Carpetbagger Report

The problem with Bush's fairly transparent lies about the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran isn't just that they're obvious; it's that they're clumsy.

Asked when he learned about Iran's halted nuclear-weapons program, the president said it was "last week." White House officials then conceded it was actually in August.

Asked about the August briefing, the president said the Director of National Intelligence told him there was "new information," but "didn't tell" him what it was. White House officials then conceded Bush was told that the August briefing included a discussion about Iran possibly having suspended its nuclear program four years ago.

Asked about any warnings he may have received in August about toning down his rhetoric on Iran, the president said, "obody ever told me that." White House officials then conceded Bush was told to "stand down" when it came to Iran, advice the president chose to ignore.

This isn't complicated. When Bush says one thing, and then White House officials tell us that reality is something different, then necessarily what the president told us wasn't true. Now, this could qualify as a lie (if he knew the truth at the time), or it could qualify as incompetence (if he just doesn't know what he's talking about), but it really has to be one or the other. .....(more)

6. Colbert had Bush's number - coined the phrase "truthiness" after Bush.
Damn, I wish this writer's strike would end.
There is no joy in mudville.

I need my humor.
I've been getting really down without the occassional chuckles to get me through the day.

It's almost as bad these days as when Carson retired.

She's not long for this position. I think she will want to "spend more time with her family" soon...

9. Dana Perino is the perfect corporate lackey
Attractive and charming to the point of disarming but willing to spout any lie and deflect any complaint in order to maintain her position in the food chain.

14. Naw, not quite, but she's close.
To quote Johnny Carson, in order for Perino to be perfect, she'd "stand about 4 feet tall and have a flat head so you could put your beer on top of it while watching the football game."

LoL
