Priceless Max Cleland quote on Chambliss attacking Kerry
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 10:19 PM by lancdem
Said Max Cleland today: "For Saxby Chambliss, who got out of going to Vietnam because of a trick knee, to attack John Kerry as weak on the defense of our nation is like a mackerel in the moonlight that both shines and stinks."

Just saw this on Josh Marshall's site, http://talkingpointsmemo.com

Here's Josh final sentence: "What else is there to say? Bring it on. This time we're ready to fight back."

4. The Quote Is Fair Game
And Max used it most aptly, I think. “This being,” (John) Randolph said of (Henry) Clay, “so brilliant yet so corrupt, which, like a rotten mackerel by moonlight, shines and stinks.” Except for Chambliss, it's too mild a criticism. All honor and praise for Mr. Cleland, who has deserved far, far better from his state and his country.

5. Even Shakespeare "borrowed" phrases. . .
"For all my best is making old words new,
Spending again what is already spent."
