Kucinich's best speech ever!!! This harkens back to the great one JFK and FDR used to recite!!!

Part one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AYrJcbkRtw

Part two
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRz-Ko5FxQQ

This is the best speech I've ever seen him give. Maybe one of the best I've heard from a Democrat in close to 20 years. If Dennis ever talked like this during a debate he'd steamroll his way into the whitehouse. This looks like a guy who's really found his form.

To me, this speech reminds me of what Democrats used to be oh so long ago.

3. Will the media ever show Dennis speaking like this?

Of course not. They have done everything they can to marginalize him in both his presidential campaigns. Most voters probably never know who he is when they see his name on the ballot. If they do know, they may have just heard Letterman and Leno make jokes about him.

If the writers' strike continues long enough, people might start watching the news and the debates, but Dennis is made the butt of jokes there, too.

And you know some of the supporters of other candidates will show up in this thread soon to call him an elf or talk about his wife having a tongue stud, as if either his height or his wife's personal choices were somehow negatives.

Nobody can help being short or tall or looking younger or older than their actual age, so the comments about Dennis's appearance are as out of line as criticizing Obama for being black or Clinton for being female. I find it embarassing and disgusting to read such comments at DU. Moreover, everyone at DU should be sophisticated enough to know that piercings and tattoos are mainstream now. Elizabeth Kucinich is beautiful and a real progressive who had done a lot of good things with her life before she met Dennis. She'd be a dynamite First Lady.

The bottom line is that a lot of people don't want progressive change; they want a continuation of the corporatocracy.

I understand this in the media; they are corporate-owned. I don't understand it at DU.

25. I posted a message some time ago at Kucinich.us that...
...when the English were packing to come to America to found this nation, there's something they forgot to put in their trunk, and she has kindly brought it to us!

Yes, she's a very beautiful and intelligent and compassionate woman. She's no "trophy wife."

7. This is the cure for what ails the party today.
You want party loyalty? It is my humble and sincere hope that Democrats who want to see a unified party listen, and hear, and envision what we are looking for, what the Democratic Party can be.

This is what will bring us together.

Not triangulation.

Not polls.

Not corporatism.

Not centrism.

Not the "third way."

Not evangelism.

12. Principles not Personalities
Dennis talks about the principles of democracy. He doesn't stoop to the agenda of the M$M of bashing other people. He stays on message of what he sees as the possibilities for America. What we CAN do for ourselves, what is best for this country and for each person. I like the principle of impeachment for breaking the law. It is this part of our constitution that he speaks to. The principle that as a country it is necessary to employ the provisions of the Constitution as it exists when a leader has broken. Each person in this country knows that when they break the law they must be ready to deal with the consequences.

20. Are you old enough to vote? Your logic is a bit off.
I'll spell it out for you...my question refers to how the MSM is constantly referring to Dennis' height. And Dean wasn't electable after all, was he? MSM got him for the 'scream.'

And if you don't like Kucinich's policies then I don't believe you're much of a progressive.

I think Dennis is totally electable! I was being sarcastic about how much traction and support Dean got in 2004, and his height never became an issue. I am an avid Kucinich supporter. I worked very hard on his campaign in '04, and am doing what I can this year as well. And I'm not just a progressive – I am a LIBERAL, and proud of it.

I will endeavor to be clearer in the future.

. . . and sadly, yes, I am way older than the legal age to vote.

23. D.K.
The media ignoring Kucinich shows what kind of state this country is in. Can you imagine hardly any coverage over a bill presented to congress on impeaching the president? That is absolutely crazy. Who is running this country? It certainly isn't the people who are supposed to be represented. Corporate America and the status quo are protected by most of our elected officials. As far as I'm concerned Dennis Kucinich is the only genuine, honest and a true represenitive of the people.

35. Did anyone else notice
the golf clapping and yawning by the denziens of the Party establishment in the room for that speech? There were some Kucinich partisans there to be sure, but I got the sense that a lot of what Dennis said made more than half of that room very uncomfortable. And that's a big problem folks. That's what we have to deal with if we want to recapture the progressive Democratic tradition. Lot's of dead weight at the top. We need a good culling.

Aside from that, great speech. Not his best ever, IMO, but good. Recommended.

The schmucks that were in the crowd were busy text messaging and stuff.

These people like the status quo, and like feeling that they'll be important if a Dem takes the presidency. But Kucinich doesn't support the plutocracy, and that bothers them.

44. The True Colors of the DNC
The lukewarm reception and half-hearted applause given by the DNC to DK and his progressive programs should put to rest any doubts as to where they stand on the issues. No impeachment. No universal health care. No end to the war. Keeping the Patriot Act (Because, after all, soon it will be a Democratic President wielding all that power). No changes to NAFTA or the WTO. In the pockets of the same corporate interests as the GOP, the DNC, the candidates they endorse, and the status quo they stand for should be denounced by all true Democrats and Progressives.

50. Vienna Kucinich Speech
Can we get in the habit of including text of the speeches. Some of us like to have it in print so we can read and reflect and not have to rewatch videos. I know the delivery is part of a speech, but so is the ability to refer to individual points without having to review the whole thing. Anyone have the text? I searched for it through Google with no luck, and could only find excerpts, even on his campaign site.
