A high finish in Iowa could get things rolling.

1. No, I dont think he will
Edited on Fri Nov-30-07 09:15 PM by Pawel K
Dont get me wrong, I like the guy. He's been a great governor to my state but he simply isn't ready for a race of this magnitude. The best thing he can do is drop out of the race and join the senate race to replace Pete Domenici as he is a shoe in as far as that goes.

24. Me too.
I love Bill Richardson. If Hillary looks like a lock for the nomination, I'd love to see him as VP (or Clark). But I'd pour money into a senate race if he jumped in that bad boy.

14. no. Tom Udall is running. He's double digits ahead of Wilson
and the other repuke. It's too late for Richardson to jump into that one. It'd cause a really ugly dem primary. I doubt he'd do it anyway with Tom already in.

19. I might have discussed this with you or maybe someone else
but I dont see Udall as much of a shoe in as Richardson. Personally I would rather see Udall in there but if it means risking the seat then I'm not willing to take that risk. I know every poll disagrees with me in regards to the risk as of now but polls change and the only person I see as true shoe in is Richardson. And primaries are going to be ugly no matter what, thats just life. We have not been able to get rid of Heather Wilson for far too long, it would be a mistake to underestimate her. She is willing to sell her soul to win and I am sick of her representing anything in this state, I want 08 to be the year that it stops.

I always have. But I don't think he stands a chance in hell. A VP running mate? Yep, he's got a chance for that.

10. Richardson is a strong fourth at the moment.
Edited on Fri Nov-30-07 09:53 PM by ClarkUSA
If his trending holds, he could finish third. And let's face it, if Clinton were honest - which she isn't, ever - she'd admit that the most experienced candidate
is Richardson.

12. When speaking to a crowd no one beats Richardson
I watched him on C-Span in NH and I think everyone in that room felt like they were his best friend. A lot of direct contact with people will help Richardson because he rivals Bill Clinton when it comes to becoming your best buddy.

I think he will do better than people think but no better than 4th.

22. Then why can't he be as articulate in debates.
Granted, the whore media is partially to blame, since they give him so little camera time. But even when he's on the air, he doesn't seem to speak for himself anywhere near the level that he apparently did in this speech to the DNC.

Richardson has the best resume, and he's a sitting governor which, according to the last 40 years of history, means he has the best chance of winning a general election. Unfortunately, he also has a long association with the DLC, which troubles me to some extent.

I would seriously like to hear more from Richardson. Anybody know if C-SPAN has plans to air the DNC event??

23. You can watch it online.
Here's the link to C-Span's site. Personally, I think Richardson has done fine in the latter debates. He's received increasingly higher marks on his performance by the talking heads. He'll never have the oration ability of Obama or the debating skills of Biden but sometimes those qualities can be a liability. Kerry was a considerably better speaker than * and Gore was a better debater. However, Shrub Inc played on the mythical common man quality of * and used that to win over voters. Richardson projects that quality of being just like everyone else and the general public finds that appealing. Look at the rise of Huckabilly lately. He plays that game to the hilt.

15. You need to get outside your isolated bubble. Richardson has significant support.
In Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada. And many of those believe he is the best national candidate by a wide margin. He's likable, conversational, and ELECTABLE. Hillary isn't.

21. Well, it's true that I don't get out much
For the record, I like Richardson. I guess it's that I'm disappointed at his performances at the debates. He has been totally unlike the Richardson I've known (not that I was a Richardson expert before but, c'mon, the guys got a golden resume. Is there anything Richardson can't do, aside from running a presidential campaign?

20. The campaign just released an internal poll showing him at 15% in Iowa
It also has him at a high approval rate. Since this is an internal poll, I'll take it with a grain of salt but I think he is starting to trend up in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada. They probably released this poll because of the ARG poll that showed him much lower in Iowa. ARG polls tend to fluctuate pretty randomly, IMHO, so I'd put his support probably closer to the 10% level that a Rasmussen poll showed over the same period.

He's getting within striking distance of the top tier and can benefit from their attacks on each other. Richardson also received another union endorsement in Nevada. The Las Vegas chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers endorsed him this week. I realize that he's still a long shot but he still has a chance.
