Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
Friday, November 30, 2007

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Hillary Clinton below the 40% level of support for the second straight day. The former First Lady now attracts 37% of the vote from Likely Democratic Primary Voters. Barack Obama is in second place nationally at 27%. That’s his highest level of support since early October. As with all tracking poll data, it remains to be seen whether the Clinton decline and the Obama bounce reflect a lasting change or are merely a temporary aberration.

John Edwards remains in third place among the Democratic hopefuls at 13%, Bill Richardson is the top choice for 4%, and no other Democratic candidate tops 3% (see recent daily numbers).

Rasmussen Reports will released new polling data on the Democratic race in New Hampshire on Saturday morning. Currently, Clinton has a ten-point lead over Obama in New Hampshire. In Iowa, new Rasmussen Reports polling data released yesterday shows that the race remains far too close to call. See all Rasmussen Reports general election match-ups and other key stats for all Democratic candidates.

In the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, Rudy Giuliani continues to lead nationwide with 27% support. Fifteen percent (15%) of Likely Primary Voters nationwide are undecided while four candidates are virtually tied for second place nationally. Mitt Romney, John McCain, and Mike Huckabee all attract 13% support while Fred Thompson is a point behind at 12%. Ron Paul's attracts 5% of Likely Republican Primary voters nationwide and no other Republican candidate reaches 2% (see recent daily numbers).

Results for the Presidential Tracking Poll are obtained through nightly telephone interviews and reported on a four-day rolling average basis. Roughly three-quarters of the interviews for today’s update were conducted before the end of Wednesday’s Republican debate.

Updated daily.

Note, as I point out in that post, that the current situation for Clinton and Obama looks very similar to the situation in early October. Rasmussen mentions this in their commentary, too. So it's too soon to say if this is a new trend or the kind of bouncing around within a narrow range that we've seeing all along.

7. Thanks for the graph. I think THIS time the "situation" is different since people are paying closer
attention now and Obama is better known, and Bill/Hillary have been saying things that remind people of the BAD things about the Clintons.

8. You could be right
And the closer we get to actual voting, the more likely it is that a change will be real and continuing.

It's just that, as an Edwards supporter who got excited by such movements in the past, I've become very cautious. So far, at any rate, the top three, after a jump or a dip, settle back to basically where they were.

"and Bill/Hillary have been saying things that remind people of the BAD things about the Clintons."

If Bush wasn't elected I was going to convince my girlfriend to move back to the Phillipines and take me with her...

on edit- I can't wait to see the debate between you and Obama, ergo: "There are few more talented people, (than Bill Clinton)" Obama said....

12. Ha ha...
Are you saying you wanted to stay in the U.S. because Bush was elected? :wtf:

Yes, Clinton IS a talented person. But while campaigning for his wife, he's screwing up.

14. I did NOT imply it was hellish. All I said was,
"and Bill/Hillary have been saying things that remind people of the BAD things about the Clintons." That's hardly saying/implying it was HELLISH. :eyes: There WERE some bad things done among the good things done. Or do you think it was ALL good?

The Clinton crew have been flooding the board with poll numbers instead of discussing their candidates strengths for months now, please tell me the Obama crew isn't going to follow the same trend.

19. Well, it would serve them right!
Neither hillary nor obama is my first choice. I DO find it exciting to watch the race unfold.

It HAS been annoying watching the Hillary Gaggle all year bombarding us with polls instead of saying what Hillary stood for.

I still don't know what Hillary stands for that the others don't also stand for. What makes Hillary worthy of our vote and not the others?

One of the ironies of the "Hillary is INevitable" is that it was using polls to bolster their case. They were hoping to seal the deal before the final weeks of the campaign.

They obviously failed to do that!

Now this has blown up in their face. About half of the voters had not even paid attention to the race previously, so they were not included in early polls.

What is happening now is that this "other half" is starting to pay attention, and they are breaking away from hillary. Probably because they already knew about hillary and would be for her already if they weren't open to someone else.

What obama needs to do now is not attack hillary. He needs to prove that he is a viable candidate on his own, someone who can win in November, and worthy of serious consideration. Right now, Edwards seems to be helping obama out by attacking clinton and risking a backlash himself in the process.

So, you are right, more has to be said than the poll numbers. That was hillary gaggle's biggest mistake. The time is ripe for obama and his followers to present a case for an obama presidency.

Now that everyone is paying attention.

20. to all obama supporters....
Edited on Sat Dec-01-07 01:33 AM by earthlover
this is what you have been waiting for for a long time. You are within striking distance of victory. Recent trends show your candidate in the lead and going up. Hillary is fading. She has not sealed the deal.

This is your opportunity. Don't waste it. What is going to determine the outcome of this election is volunteering. And, of course, money too. I have not even looked at the obama website, but i would be surprised if it does not have some way for people living in other states to help out in iowa. Check it out!

All the time up to now has been prelude. The real campaign starts now.

If you really want your candidate to win....I would suggest you take at least half of the time you spend on this website and find a way to use this time to volunteer in some way. At the grassroots level.

I envy you, because the candidates I would more like to win don't have the chance that Obama has.

Use your chance wisely!

Actually, I would extend this advice to the supporters of all candidates, not just Obama.
