1. Marc Ambinder reporting on this story...
Obama Gets His Morning Coffee With Bloomberg

29 Nov 2007 11:56 pm

(Don't wait for Drudge to develop his story -- read it here, first!)

At 7:45 this morning, Sen. Barack Obama will set vice presidential speculation on fire with a brief stop to say hello to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, himself an occasional presidential flirt. The meeting appeared on Bloomberg's schedule, which was distributed to reporters last night.

An Obama aide said the meeting was scheduled because of "mutual interest" and did not know whether the two had met before.

More coffee than ticket talk, though -- and Obama had better be brief. He's due to speak at the Democratic National Committee's winter meeting in Vienna, Virginia around noon.

Obama was in New York Thursday for a day of fundraisers, including a young professionals event at Harlem's historic Apollo theater. He also grabbed a burger or three at a local White Castle.

3. Making the rounds ? - He had dinner with Rev. Sharpton and it's a no go for now.......

Reverend Al Sharpton is undecided about backing Barack Obama
November 30th 2007

The Rev. Al Sharpton endorsed Barack Obama's choice of chow Thursday night - but said he was undecided about backing him for President.

"A man who likes fried chicken and corn bread can't be all that bad," Sharpton declared with a smile after he and the Illinois senator dined at Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem.

Asked if he would endorse Obama over Sen. Hillary Clinton, Sharpton replied, "I haven't made a decision yet."

20. I would have less a problem had he then
kept a low profile or better yet objected to the hatefest (aka the RNC convention) that he as mayor hosted. I fault every speaker there who did not call for the attendees to remove their unpatriotic despicable purple heart bandaids.

Independent now, and is sort of a political whore--he meets with everybody.

11. They showed the meeting of Obama and Bloomberg live, right through the window
of the restaurant. The two of them were involved in what looked like an intense discussion.

Scarborough is a Republican, yes, but when I've been flipping channels in the morning before heading to work, I've found his show sometimes easier to take than what's on CNN. Plus, Mika is so nice to look at!

It's like she's talking to 2nd graders or something, she's so friggin juvenile sounding. She belongs on Romper Room.

27. It's not that dramatic.
Breakfast doens't mean much normally. What's interesting about this is how public they are about it. You never know what Bloomberg is up to, and I don't mean that in a bad way.

They are in Obama's pocket as well...judging by the publishing of favorable polls...it is clear they are simply trying to shove Obama down our throats...

They have picked our candidate for us, we no longer live in a democracy...

32. How does that disprove that the media "loves" Hillary?
Or even that Hillary is getting favorable coverage from the media? Hillary has no right to complain. Also, couldn't we just as easily say that the polls showing Hillary ahead are rigged and the Obama polls are real?

These polls are crap...I've never been polled...and I do not know a SINGLE Obama supporter...

35. I know some Obama supporters
But I'm in NY. I've met supporters for almost all of the candidates.

I don't think you should get too wrapped up in the potential narratives. I agree that the media loves a close race and an underdog. I honestly think Hillary can win the Dem nomination if she does a lot right. But if she makes a mistake, someone else will win. This may seem obvious, but that's how it works for the front runner. Hillary has almost every advantage (money, establishment, name recognition, loyal followers).

I guess what I'm saying is that the race will change on the first true Dean Scream or Gary Hart situation. It's not worth getting to bent on the day to day polls and press BS.
